Firefighters extinguished a fire outside Denison early Friday morning that greatly damaged a house and caused the three adult occupants to be displaced.

Denison firefighters, assisted by the Bells Fire Department, responded to the structure fire call from the 200 block of Silver Spur Drive at about 8:57 p.m. Thursday. Denison Battalion Chief Bruce Geilhausen said the flames were through the roof of the house when the crews arrived on scene.

The firefighters took a defensive approach to battling the flames and contained the fire to the structure, Geilhausen said. The fire severely damaged the property, and it was reported as out at 1:44 a.m. Three adults lived in the house, and Geilhausen said the Red Cross was called to assist the occupants. No injuries were reported.

The Grayson County Fire Marshal’s Office will be investigating the cause of the fire, which was unknown as of Friday afternoon.
