Texas game wardens and the Denison Fire Rescue dive team recovered a body from Lake Texoma shortly before noon Wednesday.

At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, authorities were notified of a possible drowning near the Lighthouse Marina. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesperson Stephanie Garcia said the next of kin was notified, but the investigation is ongoing.

“Until the investigation concludes, we're not going to have a lot of the details,” Garcia said.

The person was not identified Wednesday afternoon, and authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the death. Garcia said the information was still preliminary, so there are not many details they can release.

“We're going to wait until the investigation is completed for a lot of the details to come out,” Garcia said.

Denison Fire Chief Gregg Loyd said the crew began the search Tuesday and looked until it was dark. The search was resumed Wednesday and lasted until the body was recovered. Loyd said he wasn’t sure of the location, but the crew launched from Grandpappy Point Marina.

TPWD personnel is investigating with assistance from the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
