Assault — Officers responded on July 7 to a disturbance in the 2700 block of South Travis Street that was reported by a neighbor. Upon the officers’ arrival, it was determined that an assault had occurred with the suspect fleeing before their arrival. The victim stated that her common law husband pushed her to the ground and covered her mouth and nose which prevented her from breathing. A report for assault on a family member impeding breath was filed.
Assault — An officer responded on July 5 to a male complainant in the 1000 block of Odneal Street in Sherman. The victim stated that he had been assaulted two days prior and that the assailant swung a knife at him. A report for aggravated assault was filed.
Assault — An officer was dispatched on July 5 to the 1900 block of Monte Cristo Way in reference to an assault. Upon their arrival, it was learned that a male had assaulted his girlfriend causing minor injuries and then fled. A report for assault causing bodily injury to a family member was filed.
Credit card abuse — An officer was dispatched on July 5 to the 300 block of South Loving Street in reference to a theft. A suspect stole a wallet from a vehicle and later attempted to use the victim’s debit card. The case is under investigation.
Theft — An adult male left his wallet on July 3 in a shopping cart at a business in the 100 block of East Taylor Street. The wallet was taken from the basket while it was in the cart return.
Criminal mischief— An officer made contact on July 5 with a male complainant in the 2000 block of North Travis Street. The victim reported that a suspect had used black spray paint to damage his vehicle. A report for criminal mischief was filed.
Possession — Officers observed on July 5 two males riding bicycles in the 100 block of North Vaden Street. The bikes were being ridden at night without proper lighting equipment. During the stop, it was determined that one of the riders had an active Grayson County warrant and was in possession of marijuana. The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana less than two ounces.
Burglary — Evidence was collected on June 30 from the burglary of a vehicle in the 1700 block of South Heritage Parkway. A different owner of some of the evidence was located on July 6 and it was learned that their vehicle had been left unlocked and was burglarized during the same episode. A second report for burglary of a vehicle was filed.
Assault — An officer responded on July 8 to a report of two males fighting each other in the 900 block of East Wells Street. The officer obtained conflicting versions from witnesses on how the fight started. One of the involved parties stated that he had not agreed to fight and was offended by contact made. A report for assault was generated.
Burglary — An officer was dispatched on July 6 to the 800 block of La Salle Drive in reference to a burglary. The complainant told the officer that a suspect had broken into his house while he was asleep and stolen several items. A report for burglary of a habitation was filed.
Theft of a firearm — An officer responded on July 6 to a female reporting party in the 300 block of Tennessee Street. She stated that she had found a bag of clothes in her front yard. It was determined that the property was stolen from a vehicle in the area, and that two pistols had also been stolen from the vehicle. A report was generated for burglary of a vehicle and theft of a firearm.
Forgery — A male entered the police station lobby on July 5 and turned in a counterfeit $100 bill he had found on July 4 in the 400 block of Sam Rayburn Freeway. A report for forgery of a financial instrument was filed.
Found property — An officer made contact on July 5 with a male reporting party reference to found property. The individual reported finding a pair of pink and clear sunglasses and a case in the 300 block of South Travis Street. A report for found property was generated.
Accident involving damage — An officer responded on July 6 to a reporting party in the 3900 block of North U.S. Highway 75 regarding a hit and run accident. Upon investigation, it was determined that a suspect had struck the victim’s vehicle, causing damage, and then left the scene. A report was taken and the case is under investigation.
Found property — A male turned in a driver’s license on June 27 that had been found in the 300 block of East Highway 82 in 2015. A report for found property was filed.
Assault — An officer was dispatched on July 6 to a business in the 4700 block of South U.S. Highway 75 in reference to an assault. An investigation was conducted and a report for assault by contact was generated.
Striking unattended vehicle — An officer responded on July 6 to a female complainant in the 1000 block of South Montgomery Street. She stated that her vehicle, while legally parked, had been struck by a passing vehicle, causing minor damage and not stopping. The suspect was located and admitted to leaving the scene of an accident. A report for duty on striking an unattended vehicle was filed.
Assault — An officer responded on July 6 to a male complainant in the 1800 block of South Walnut Street. The victim stated that his girlfriend threw a vase at him, causing a cut on his foot, which he revealed. The suspect denied throwing the vase, but did admit to overturning a glass table. A report for assault causing bodily injury to a family member was filed.
Death investigation — Officers and emergency medical services were dispatched on July 6 to the 800 block of North Sam Rayburn Freeway regarding a welfare concern. They entered the residence, and a report was generated for a death investigation.
