Santa Claus is expected to take a break from his summer vacation to make an appearance at Christmas in July in Downtown Sherman Saturday.

Organizers for the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Grayson County Courthouse square, said this year’s festivities will include more kid-friendly activities than ever before. The children’s activities will begin with a bicycle parade and include free miniature train rides, a bouncy water slide and lots of free craft and activity booths.

Santa will be on hand to greet kids of all ages and organizers are planning a Hawaiian shirt contest. The event, which is being hosted by Sherman Main Street, will also include vendors selling goods and the downtown merchants will be open as well offering prizes and more.
