A Bonham man died at the hospital after wrecking his motorcycle in Fannin County Monday night.
Texas Department of Public Safety Staff Sgt. Mark Tackett said the man was traveling south on State Highway 78 about a half mile south of Bonham on a Honda Shadow motorcycle before the wreck occurred. At about 9 p.m., the driver lost control of the motorcycle as he entered a turn while traveling at an unsafe speed, Tackett said.
The motorcycle struck a guardrail, and the driver was ejected. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Kennie Taylor, was flown to Medical City Plano for treatment. Taylor was pronounced dead at about 1:45 the next morning. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, and Tackett said Taylor was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
“It’s always important to wear a helmet when driving a motorcycle,” Tackett said.
