WHITESBORO — With a sloping acreage and a thick tree line setting the scene, a rustic, yet refined Whitesboro ranch house offers comfort with class.
The custom stone house with a metal roof at 367 Anderson Road is situated on more than 80 acres and is for sale for $1.685 million. The 4,134-square-foot house, built in 2011, features three bedrooms, two and half bathrooms, spacious living areas and a swimming pool fit for a resort.
Patty Campbell, the listing real estate agent with Ebby Halliday Realtors, said the house has a warm and inviting feel with the interior colors and décor aiding in that regard.
“It doesn’t feel like a big, cold house to me,” Campbell said. “The views are spectacular; I love the views.”
Though the house is situated back from the road, the property is located near the U.S. Highway 82 and U.S. Highway 377 interchange, making the location easily accessible. A gated, long, gravel drive leads to the house past a small pond and facilities to support livestock. The gravel gives way to concrete for the wide circle drive in front, which is surrounded by a well-manicured lawn.
Walking up to the single-story house, the front door, which faces south, is covered by an exterior tower-like entryway outfitted with a large working bell above. Through the front door is the lodge-like great room with high ceilings and a stone fireplace. This main living area opens to the kitchen with a breakfast nook located on the side. Windows near the ceiling flood the room with natural light and the space overlooks the back patio and pool area.
“I would say my favorite feature is the living area and the view of the pool in the back,” Campbell said.
The kitchen is equipped with a copper sink, a commercial-grade gas stove, double ovens, granite counter tops and a long island with bar seating. Most of the light fixtures in the house have an antique feel and provide warm lighting. Many of the rooms have wooden beams running across the ceilings.
A hallway off the main living area leads past an office and to the master bedroom suite on the west side. The spacious room has a fireplace situated in the corner, which is surrounded by stone embedded into the wall. The room also has access to the backyard.
The master bathroom has double sinks and granite counter tops with a built-in vanity. A walk-in shower is next to the oversized, jetted bathtub with built-in steps making getting in and out easier. The large walk-in closet has separate areas for the heads of the household, and the room has built-in shelves for shoes and other clothing.
On the east side of the house, a long hallway lighted with sconces leads to the children’s bedrooms, media room, the laundry room and garage. Another hallway off the main leads to the back patio, making a half bathroom accessible to the outside. A playroom that could be used as another bedroom is situated off this hallway.
The children’s bedrooms are both well sized and share a connected bathroom. Each room has its own closed-in sink area near the bathroom. The media room currently houses a large sofa and a card table. The room has doors to the side of the house and is equipped with a wet bar. The laundry room with granite counter tops and a sink is located near the two-car garage.
A guesthouse to the east of the main house features an upstairs apartment. The stone building has a garage on the ground floor and the apartment features a bedroom, bathroom, living room and a kitchenette. The space has vaulted ceilings, and the kitchenette features a full-sized refrigerator, sink and microwave. On the back is a large balcony partially covered with views of the rolling acreage.
To the back of the main house is a large covered patio featuring a stone fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. The kitchen has a built-in grill and a sink. The heated pool is just feet from the patio and is surrounded by tile. At the end of the pool is a connected but elevated hot tub. A sitting area covered by a pergola is off to the side of the pool and an elegant stone, partial wall provides a slight barrier to the back of the pool area. The property also has an underground storm shelter.
“I think any family would love this house,” Campbell said. “But if you wanted to have livestock, it’s great to have a nice a home and be able to have livestock.”
