Sherman’s Planning & Zoning Commission will consider a specific use permit for a new social entertainment lounge during its meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

The lounge, which would have broadcast and live entertainment, would be located at 221 South Travis Street between Lamar Street and Jones Street. In addition to the specific use permit, the owner is seeking site plan approval and plans to have big screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, karaoke and fax and print services.

A prospective liquor stores will also seek a specific use permit from the commission. The possible store would be at City Mart Convenience at 1730 South FM 1417.

A pair of self-storage facilities will also be seeking specific use permits from the commission. One will be at 4312 Texoma Parkway, and the other will be at 2105 S. FM 1417 and 2115, 2119, 2123 and 2127 S. FM 1417.

Ruben and Adriana Alvarez will also be before the commission seeking a specific use permit for a language school for 3- to 5-year-old students at 1704 and 1706 N. Travis St.

D-Bat Texoma, a baseball and softball training facility, will be seeking site plan approval and a specific use permit to open at 4113 North Frisco Road, as well as exceptions from the commission’s board of adjustments for a metal building and fewer parking spots than required.

A zoning change and specific use permit will be sought at 1330 South Austin Street to allow an auto repair and body shop to open.

The board of adjustments will also consider site plan approval and an exception to allow the replacement of an existing office building on a nonconforming lot at 132 Comfort Way.
