The Denison Independent School District’s board of trustees will meet Tuesday to discuss the district’s results on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness.

The STAAR exam is the state’s standardized test and is administered to students in grades 3-11. Subjects of the STAAR test include reading, math, writing, science and social studies. Students in grades 5 and 8 are required to pass the math and reading tests in order to advance to the next grade level. Multiple retakes are administered throughout the summer months, giving students the opportunity to achieve passing scores.

Trustees are also set to consider the approval of 5-cent and 10-cent increases on paid meal prices in the district’s elementary schools and secondary schools respectively.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the district’s administration building, located at 1201 South Rusk Avenue in Denison. For additional information, call 903-462-7000.
