A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer after police were called to a Denison residence where another teenager in the household was causing a disturbance early Wednesday morning.
Shortly after midnight, Denison Police responded to the disturbance call in the 300 block of East Hull Street. A woman reported her 17-year-old son was throwing property inside the residence and broke a windshield of her vehicle. She told police the teenager was angry because she wouldn’t buy him cigarettes or let him use her vehicle, according to the Denison Police report.
The report states a 19-year-old son was also throwing property inside the house and engaged in a verbal altercation with the mother. When officers arrived on scene, Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler said they tried to talk with the 19-year-old, but he was not cooperative.
“He tried to close a door on an officer, and he swung and hit the officer on the arm,” Eppler said.
Eppler said the officer was not injured, but the 19-year-old was arrested for assault on a public servant. His bond was set at $10,000. The 17-year-old son was arrested for public intoxication. Eppler said the mother did not want to file charges against the sons for damage caused to the property.
