The 3-year-old boy who fell from a third-story balcony Tuesday did not suffer any long-lasting injuries, Sherman Police say.

Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the child suffered mostly bruises, abrasions and orbital bone fractures, and the child is expected to be OK.

Emergency personnel responded to the 1200 block of West Taylor Street at about 10:25 a.m. after a call reported a small child fell from an apartment balcony. The child was transported by helicopter to a Dallas children’s hospital.

Sherman Police conducted an investigation, and Hampton said they do not anticipate filing criminal charges. Texas Child Protective Services was notified, and Hampton said they are involved. Hampton said he did not have information about why the child was on the balcony.

“As horrific of a fall, it could have turned out a lot worse,” Hampton said.
