In the hustle and bustle of life, some people may have forgotten that Mother’s Day is Sunday. For those still looking for items to get mom or things to do with mom, here is a list of five mom-approved gifts.

1. All you can eat brunch

Mom should not have to cook on her special day. Denison Golf and Country Club will have a Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The menu will include smoked pork tenderloin, honey ham, carved roast beef, an omelet station, eggs Benedict, silver dollar pancakes, bread pudding, cobbler, Parmesan new potatoes, fried catfish with hush puppies, calamari, rosemary chicken, bananas foster, and other breakfast and lunch favorites. The brunch is $16-17.95 per person. Mimosas are $1.

2. Spice up lunch and dinner

If mom loves Mexican food, she will probably enjoy the Mother’s Day specials at El Tapatio in Denison. Two people can dine for $11.99 Sunday and fajitas for two are $19.99. Sopapillas are $1.75. In honor of Mother’s Day margaritas will be $3.99 for the regular size. Jumbo margaritas at $5.99 and monster margaritas are $8.99. A 12-ounce mug of draft beer is $2 and 34 ounces is $4.99.

3. A trip to the spa

Bella Fontana Spa in Sherman has a Mother’s Day gift basket special on sale now. Customers can receive 15% off any spa day gift certificate with the purchase of any aromatherapy gift basket. The offer is only available in stores and only while supplies last.

4. Get mom outside

If you are looking for a place to spend some time with your mother while also enjoying being outside. Mother’s Day in the Garden will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in Sherman. Patrons can look for monarch butterflies in the garden. They can also take pictures and partake in light refreshments provided by the park.

5. Mother’s Day recipe

Banana pudding can be a sweet and simple treat for Mother’s Day. Here is a recipe by All Recipes:

“Gather one 5-ounce package of instant vanilla pudding mix, two cups of cold milk, one 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, one tablespoon of vanilla extract, one 12-ounce container of frozen whipped topping, one 16-ounce package of vanilla wafers, and 14 bananas.

“In a large mixing bowl, beat pudding mix and milk 2 minutes. Blend in condensed milk until smooth. Stir in vanilla and fold in whipped topping. Layer wafers, bananas and pudding mixture in a glass serving bowl. Chill until serving.”
