A Sherman man was arrested late Wednesday night on a charge of indecent exposure after police say he previously exposed himself to senior citizens at an area apartment complex on multiple occasions.

Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the events leading to the man’s arrest began when two detectives were conducting surveillance at the Park Manor Senior Apartments on FM 1417 Wednesday and, at approximately 9:20 p.m., they observed a male pedestrian in the area who matched the description of the suspect as reported by witnesses. Hampton said the detectives then stopped the man for walking on the wrong side of the road.

“In talking to him and in the information they gathered from him, they realized that was the person they were looking for,” Hampton said.

The Sherman Police sergeant said the detectives released the man and then secured a warrant for his arrest, which was served roughly two hours later at the man’s residence in the 3500 block of Sherbrooke Place. A statement released by the department Thursday said the man was taken into custody without incident.

“I’m sure the people at the Park Manor Senior Apartments are glad that he was caught and arrested,” Hampton said. “And I know for a fact that we are too.”
