Sherman Police


Fraud — An officer made contact on May 2 with a male complainant in the lobby of the Sherman Police Department in reference to fraudulent use of identifying information. The complainant had received notice from the Internal Revenue Service in regard to his 2016 taxes. A total of four places of employment in the California, New York, Utah and Texas areas had reported a person had provided the complainant’s name, date of birth, driver’s license number and social security card while employed. The complainant has lived in the Sherman area for the past 16 months. A report for fraudulent use of identifying information was generated.


Theft — An officer made contact on May 1 with a male complainant in reference to a theft. In speaking with the reporting party, it was learned a male employee had taken money from Advanced Auto Parts located in the 700 block of East Taylor Street. A report for theft was generated.


Aggravated robbery — Sherman officers responded on May 1 to the 3100 block of North US Hwy 75 in reference to a armed robbery. The suspect threatened the victim with a knife and stole cash from the register. A report was generated for aggravated robbery. The investigation is ongoing.


Criminal mischief — An officer made telephone contact on May 1 with a female reporting party in reference to criminal mischief. A male suspect damaged a glass pane window sometime on April 25 at North Texas Youth Connection located in the 1600 block of East Lamar Street. A report for criminal mischief was generated


Driving while license invalid — Sherman officers conducted a traffic stop on May 1 in the 7700 block of South U.S. Highway 75 South. The driver had a suspended license with previous convictions of driving while license invalid. The passenger had a confirmed warrant out of Grayson County. The driver and passenger were arrested and transported to the Grayson County Jail. A report was made for driving while license invalid with previous convictions/suspensions without financial responsibility.


Possession of marijuana — A traffic stop was conducted on May 1 in the 1700 block of North Heritage Parkway. The driver was arrested for driving while license invalid with previous convictions/suspensions without financial responsibility, possession of marijuana under two ounces and possession of a controlled substance under one gram.


Driving while license invalid — A traffic stop was conducted on May 2 in the 2100 block of North Heritage Parkway. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


Theft — An officer responded on May 2 to the 4400 block of Howe Drive in regards to a stolen vehicle. The victim advised that sometime during the night, someone took a pickup that was parked in front of his home. An offense report was completed for theft of property between $2,500-$30,000. The case will be forewarded to criminal investigation database for further investigation.


Public intoxication — Sherman Police Department dispatch received a call on May 2 in reference to a disturbance in the 1200 block of West Hunt Street. The suspect causing the disturbance was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
