Driving while intoxicated — An officer was dispatched on April 19 to the 1700 block of West Birge in reference to a hit and run accident. The caller advised his vehicle was struck in front of his residence and the suspect fled the scene. A passerby followed the suspect’s vehicle around the block. Officers arrived and spoke with the suspect, who exhibited several signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated third or more offense and striking unattended vehicle and transported to the Grayson County Jail.


Assault — Sherman dispatch received a call on April 19 from a female screaming for help, she stated she was in the 400 block of South Crockett. When officers arrived, there were no signs of assault but the female claimed her boyfriend held her down causing her pain and took her phone. A report was generated.


Burglary — An officer made telephone contact on April 19 with a female complainant in reference to a suspect gaining entry into the complainant’s vehicle sometime on April 17. The vehicle is a 2014 blue four-door Honda Civic. At the time the incident occurred, the vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway of the complainant’s residence in the 1000 block of East Chaffin Street. Once inside the vehicle, a white wallet was removed from the back seat of the vehicle. A report for burglary of a vehicle was generated.


Denison Police


Disturbance — Personnel at a hospital in the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 75 South said on April 15 that a patient in the emergency department got angry because he was told he couldn’t smoke in the bathroom and turned over some equipment inside the room causing over $5,000 damage to a blood pressure machine. A case will be sent to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office.


Theft — Personnel at a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75 said on April 15 that a suspect concealed merchandise and went past the last point of sale without paying for the merchandise. He was arrested for theft over $100.


Disturbance — Officers responded to a call on April 15 of a fight in progress in the 1200 block of South Perry. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication. No fight was observed.


Suspicious person — Officers responded to a call on April 16 of a suspicious person and a woman screaming in the 800 block of North U.S. Highway 75. The suspect was arrested for failure to identify/giving false/fictitious information. Another suspect was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana under two ounces, tampering with evidence and having a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.


Disturbance — Officers responded on April 16 to a call of a disturbance in the Emergency Department at a business in the 5000 block of South U.S. Highway 75. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and outstanding city of Denison warrants.


Assault — A victim in the 200 block of West Hull said on April 17 that she was assaulted by a juvenile relative by ripping off her shirt and undergarments and kicking her. The juvenile was arrested for assault causing bodily injury/family violence.


Theft — A victim in the 900 block of West Crawford said on April 18 that an unknown suspect stole a package from outside her residence that had been delivered by a delivery service.


Credit card abuse — A victim in the 700 block of West Day said on April 18 that an unknown suspect made some online purchases without the victim’s permission. The investigation will continue.


Credit card abuse — A victim in the 1900 block of West Morton said on April 18 that someone attempted to use her credit card to purchase food and it was declined. The victim had been unable to locate the card. Denison Police will be following up on leads.


Violation of a protective order — A complainant in the 500 block of East Day said on April 18 that there is a protective order against her ex-boyfriend stating he cannot contact her or their child. She said that he has been violating that order. A case will be sent to the Grayson Count District Attorney’s Office.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on April 19 for a traffic violation in the 1600 block of West Morton. The driver was arrested for not having a driver’s license.


Burglary of a vehicle — A victim in the 300 block of North Lillis said on April 19 that an unknown suspect broke a window out of her vehicle and took her purse.


Theft — A victim in the 100 block of North Mirick said on April 19 that an unknown suspect stole a bicycle out of her yard.
