No one was injured Thursday afternoon after a pickup collided with a semi at the intersection of FM 1417 and U.S. Highway 82 in Sherman.

Sherman Police Department Officer Ryan Loftin said at approximately 2 p.m., the red Ford F150 pickup, occupied by two female motorists, was preparing to turn south onto FM 1417 from the westbound frontage road of U.S. 82 when it collided with the rear section of the semi as the male driver of the vehicle traveled north on FM 1417.

Loftin said both drivers reported having the right of way at the traffic light. The semi was able to drive away from the scene, but the pickup was likely totaled and had to be towed away.

“Any time you’ve got a wreck involving a car and an 18-wheeler, the 18-wheeler is going to win,” Loftin said.

Sherman Police reduced the number of traffic lanes on each roadway as wrecker crews cleared the pickup and debris. The lanes were opened again after roughly 45 minutes.
