Three people were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries after a passenger vehicle and a school bus collided in Trenton Wednesday afternoon.

Trenton Volunteer Fire Department Chief C.J. Fillingham said two of the victims were students riding on the school bus at the time of the wreck. One was transported to Medical Center of Plano by air ambulance and the other was transported by ground ambulance to Texoma Medical Center — Bonham. The third victim, an occupant of the passenger vehicle, was also transported by air ambulance to Medical Center of Plano. Information regarding the victims’ ages and conditions was not immediately available.

Fillingham said the collision occurred at about 3:47 p.m. on U.S. Highway 69, near County Road 2620. He said there were approximately 15 students on the bus when the wreck occurred and the Trenton Independent School District has since notified parents of the incident.

The Trenton Police Department, Leonard Police Department and Texas Department of Public safety all responded to the scene. Officials with the Trenton Police Department, which is overseeing the investigation, were not available for comment early Wednesday evening.
