The Sherman-Denison Metropolitan Planning Organization will hold a public meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Sherman City Hall, 220 W. Mulberry St., to discuss an amendment for TAPS Public Transit projects in its upcoming 2017-2020 Transportation Improvement Plan.

Through the amendment, $1.28 million in public transit projects will be included in the SDMPO’s short range plans. This also represents a new level of participation by the transit provider, who has not participated in area transportation planning through the SDMPO in recent years.

As a part of its federal funding, a percentage of SDMPO funds are designated for transportation alternatives, which include public transit, SDMPO Director Clay Barnett said Wednesday.
