The Triple L Club of the First Baptist Church of Sherman met Feb. 18 with 25 members and five guests attending. Harry Gates opened with prayer and singing was led by Richard Lair, accompanied by Sheila Williams, pianist.
Steve Rice introduced Austin Lambert who is a new member of the church’s ministerial staff.
The treasurer’s report and minutes from the last meeting were read and approved and a devotional was presented by Harriet Nix. Door prizes went to Barbara Lair and Nelda Barker.
Providing a musical program was Bob Corley, introduced by Jean McConnell.
Richard Lair closed the meeting with a prayer and blessing for the luncheon that followed.
The next "Play Day" will be from 9:30 a.m. until noon on March 4. The next regular meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. on March 18 at the church.
American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 29
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 29 met Feb. 11 at the Sherman home of Helen Ritchie. President Shirley Geer presided over the business meeting.
As a project, members put together Valentine treat and gift bags which were taken on Feb. 14 to the Bonham Veterans Hospital. The bags were presented to veterans in the hospital’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder unit.
The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. on March 10 at Pecan Point in Sherman. An Easter egg hunt is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 12 at Pecan Point Assisted Living in Sherman.
