Sherman Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Lauren Roth said the Chamber’s Christmas parade through downtown Sherman this year will wrap Christmas cheer with childhood nostalgia. Roth said she created the "Storybook Christmas" theme to "relate memories from our childhood to this year’s Christmas parade."

The parade through downtown begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6

Roth said parade float builders could look to "stories like ‘The Night Before Christmas,’ ‘The Nutcracker,’ ‘The 12 Days of Christmas,’ and ‘Polar Express’ (and) to current movies like ‘Elf’ for inspiration from the storybook theme.

The Chamber is also hosting a "Snowflake Festival" on the day of the parade. The Chamber’s Christmas Snowflake Festival begins at 3 p.m. in Sherman’s downtown square around the Grayson County Courthouse. Roth said vendors can set up a booth at the festival for a $25 fee.

Parade participants can enter for $10 per float until Nov. 22. After that, the price to enter the parade will increase to $25.

Roth said, "Children and adults alike will enjoy the variety of stories that will make their appearance. We are excited to see what all of our parade participants will have in store!"
