National Library week is April 13 through 19, and with so much to celebrate the Sherman Public Library will be holding events all month. Joining with the American Library Association and libraries across the nation, activities and events will take place to honor libraries and showcase the wealth of information and reading pleasure they provide.

Children 18 months to 5 years of age and their caregivers can join the fun with Read To Win. The story time of books, music, puppets and fingerplays are held most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in April and children earn a paperback book every fourth week.

Youngsters and their stuffed animals won’t want to miss the Stuffed Animal Pajama Story Time on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. Kids are invited to bring a stuffed animal that they will feel comfortable in leaving at the library overnight. When picking up the animal the following day, the children will get to see and hear about the adventures their animals had at the library during their sleep-over.

The public is encouraged to bring a sack lunch and take a trip during the library’s Brown Bag Travel Series in April. On April 1, 9, 16, 23 and 30, free videos of various travel destinations will be shown at noon. Drinks will be provided by the Friends of the Sherman Public Library.

A Friends Book Review will be on April 2 at 11:45 a.m. Lunch is provided by the Friends of the Sherman Public Library. There is no charge for the program, but donations are welcome. Reservations need to be made in advance by calling 903-892-7240.

On April 26 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., the annual Friends Book Sale will be held at the library. Members of the Friends of the Library will have a preview sale from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on April 25 and anyone interested in attending the preview sale can join the Friends group at the sale.
