Gwen Braxton was elected to serve as the new president for the next six months when the Sherman Daybreak Toastmasters met Jan. 16. Outgoing president, Rodger Eppler, conducted the election.
Jeff Walton was introduced as the Toastmaster of the day. His theme was "My Toastmaster Journey," and he called on several attendees to share their experiences with the group.
Braxton brought the "word of the day" — inception — meaning the beginning, commencement and/or start.
M.J. Presley served as time keepr/voter counter and also as general evaluator.
Joy Cole presented a speech focusing on how Toastmasters has benefited her over the past 14 years. Her speech was evaluated by Eppler.
Braxton served as the Table Topics Master. She posed questions to Eppler and Cole, giving them a chance to respond with an impromptu "mini" speech, delivered in a one-to-two minute time frame.
Best speaker of the day was Cole. Best evaluator and best Table Topic speech awards went to Eppler.
The Daybreak Toastmasters meet on the first and third Thursday, 6:30 a.m., at the Grayson County United Way office in Sherman. For more information, contact Walton at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jamie McGeHee at email@example.com.
