BONHAM — A day-long benefit for Ashley Anderson, coach of the Dodd City Lady Hornets, is scheduled for March 29 at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex in Bonham. The event is being hosted by the Friends of Ashley.

BONHAM — A day-long benefit for Ashley Anderson, coach of the Dodd City Lady Hornets, is scheduled for March 29 at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex in Bonham. The event is being hosted by the Friends of Ashley.


Anderson, a lifetime resident of Randolph, was diagnosed with acute leukemia in 2009. Following a series of medications and treatments, she underwent a bone marrow transplant in February of this year in Houston. All profits from the benefit will assist Anderson with mounting medical expenses.


Events taking place on the day of the benefit include: a 5K run - registration starting at 7 a.m. and the run at 9 a.m; a one-mile fun run/walk - registration starting at 7 a.m. and the fun run at 8:30 a.m; Red River scenic motorcycle ride - registration at 10 a.m. and starting at 11 a.m; horseshoe tournament from noon until 3 p.m; chili cook-off and hot dogs - cooking starts at 11 a.m. and judging at 3 p.m; face painting - noon; a bouncehouse - noon until 4 p.m; a concert directed by Rita Fulmer - 4 p.m. until 6 p.m; silent auction - noon until 6 p.m; barbecue dinner - 5 p.m. until 7 p.m; and a live auction - 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.


The Texoma Regional Blood Center bus will be on site from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the public to donate blood. Also on the date of the benefit, there will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament held at Dodd City and starting at 10 a.m.
