Award-winning author Jodi Thomas will be speaking at 1:30 p.m. this Thursday at the Denison Public Library. Her visit to Denison is just one stop on a book tour Thomas is currently making. The presentation is free and open to the public and is being hosted by the Book Chatters, Epsilon Sigma Alpha and the Monodrama Club of Denison. Copies of Thomas’ work will be available for purchase.

Thomas is a fifth generation Texas writer, earned a degree in family studies, and is the author in residence at West Texas State University. Her fictional novels are predominately love stories and based in her home state. A three-time RITA winner for best historical romance novels, Thomas is a 2005 National Reader’s Choice award winner and a 2006 inductee into the Romance Writers’ Hall of Fame. She describes herself as a story teller who pieces her stories together in a quilt room surrounded by quilts piced by older members of her family. Telling stories is her way of putting pieces together and making her own quilts.

In addition to the program by Thomas, some members of the three hosting clubs will be meeting at 11 a.m. at Country Java in downtown Denison. The group will then go to the library and tour the newly-remodeled facility.
