Open auditions for Theatricks’ spring production of The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe are scheduled for Jan. 20 and 21 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The auditions will be held in the Honey McGee Playhouse, 313 West Mulberry Street in Sherman.

The classic story was written by C.S. Lewis and adapted by playwright Joseph Robinette. It begins in an old house in rural England, a home base for four children who wander into a fantastical country through an old wardrobe. In Narnia, the children make friends with frightened forest people who have almost given up hope for the return of good King Aslan, their true ruler. The play focuses on courage and the love of freedom.

There are parts for 16 characters with a wide age range. Some of the main characters are Aslan, the White Witch, Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Peter, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Centaur, Unicorn, Tumnus, Fenris Ulf, a dwarf, Father Christmas and a white stag. The audition process requires filling out an audition form (available online at www.theatricks.org or at the auditions) and reading scenes from the script. The cast list will be posted on Jan. 22 at the Theatricks website. Rehearsals will begin Jan. 27 and rehearsal days and times are Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. for five weeks. Performances will be Feb. 28 through March 9.
