Participants and sponsors are still being accepted for the second annual Cheer Showdown benefitting the North Texas Youth Connection (NTYC). The event will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on March 1 at Grayson College.

Competition teams in cheerleading, gymnastics and dance from local studios will be taking part in the showdown. Other teams wishing to participate should contact Deann Clark at 903-462-2230.

Guest emcee will be Brian Aspell.

Sponsors include local businesses and sponsorships are still available. Local vendors will also be on site, offering items of interest.

Admission tickets will be $5 per person and can be purchased in advance from Showdown participants or at the door on the day of the event. Ticket proceeds and team contributions will benefit the NTYC’s building program to construct a new shelter facility in Denison.

The NTYC is a local emergency shelter program for run-away and homeless youths ages 10 to 17. In addition, the program offers free family counseling through its STAR (Services to At-Risk Youth) connection, a transitional living program for youths ages 16 to 21 and a scattered site housing program for young adults ages 21 to 24. In addition, the NTYC is a Safe Place response agency for eight counties in North Texas.
