Trout derby rescheduled


Due to inclement weather, the Youth Trout Derby, originally scheduled for this Saturday at Waterloo Lake-Pond has been postponed until Feb. 22. More information on the event will be published closer to the new date. The event is sponsored by the Denison Parks & Recreation Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Scramble winner


FORT WORTH — Myranda Elston, a Sherman FFA member, was among winners in the Feb. 1 calf scramble at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Donna Elston.


Scramble winners receive a $500 certificate to help buy a registered beef or dairy heifer for a year-long 4-H or FFA project. The animal must be exhibited at the stock show’s 2015 Junior Heifer Show. Those who do the best job on the project will be in line for scholarship funds when they enter college.


Music program


BELLS — Performances by Shannon Choate and Peggy Houlihan will be featured at a musical gathering this Friday. There will also be an open mic, along with a song writing circle, that attendees are encouraged to take part in.


The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 22 North Washburn Road in Bells. Attendees will need to RSVP by calling 903-965-9862.
