A special Christmas and winter sale will be held this Saturday at the Bargain Box resale shop at 418 West Main Street in Denison. The non-profit shop, operated by the Denison Service League, will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.


The shop still has a large selection of Christmas decorations which will all be priced at 75 percent off. Select from lights, Christmas trees, tinsel and garland, lighted reindeer and more.


Other specially-priced items are all men’s jackets and suits, all jeans for the entire family and all boots and shoes for the entire family - buy one and get two more free. There is also a rack of sweaters priced at just $1.


Everything not listed above will be available at half price. Choose from housewares, kitchen items, linens, clothing for men, women, boys, girls, toddlers and infants, toys, home decor, books, magazines, collectibles and more.


Christmas Pilgrimage Sunday


The annual Christmas Pilgrimage, sponsored by the Altrusa Club of Sherman, has been rescheduled for this Sunday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and available from any Altrusa Club member or at Carol’s Red Apron. Tickets are $12 on tour day and will be available at any of the sites.


Homes featured on this year’s tour include: 984 Lakewood Road in Denison; 405 Preston Road in Denison; 1221 North Hopson in Sherman and 206 West Belden in Sherman. Also during tour hours, there will be a tea and silent auction at Texas Star Bank.


Trout derbies set


The first of four rainbow trout stockings at Waterloo Lake Pond will be this Friday in preparation for several upcoming trout derbies. The derbies are hosted by Denison’s Parks and Recreation Department.


The derbies are scheduled as follows: Jan. 4 - Seventh annual Howard Caylor Adult Trout Derby; Jan. 18 - 10th annual Family Fellowship Trout Derby; and Feb. 8 - 16th annual Youth Trout Derby. For each derby, the first 50 registered participants in each event will receive something special. Prizes will be given at each event for the biggest and smallest trout and the heaviest stringer of trout. There also will be prizes given for catching tagged/golden trout during the derby, along with door prize drawings, casting contests and food.
