Alton and Carol Cox will be honored Dec. 28 with a 60th wedding anniversary gathering. The come-and-go celebration will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the home of Bill and Lisa Cannon. Hosts will be the Cox’s children. The celebration is open to family and friends and the couple requests no gifts.

Carol Cox was born in San Antonio to Elves and Ann Smith. She attended Bonham High School for one year where she was named "Miss Fannin County," and graduated from San Jacienta High School in Houston. She worked at Quaker ats and The Book Shoppe, both in Sherman.


Alton Cox was born in Bonham, the son of Jim and Lois Cox. He graduated from Bonham High School and attended Southern Methodist University where he earned a Certification of Building Management. He served in the United States Navy and was in the Korean conflict, stationed on the USS battleship Wasp and was the owner of Cox Construction for 40 years. He also served in numerous city positions.


Both are members of the First Baptist Church where Alton Cox serves as a deacon. Carol Cox was a Sunday School teacher and GA leader for 50 years. They also enjoyed domestic and international travel.


The couple’s children are Lisa Cannon and her husband, Bill, and Sparky Cox and his wife, Rhonda. They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
