GUNTER — The "Christmas party" theme was used when Mary Reed and Sherry Peters hosted the December meeting of the Gunter Community Club. Debbie Savage led the Pledge of Allegiance and Jeannie Anderson led the club prayer.

Secret pal gifts were exchanged and "pals" identified for the 2013 year. A drawing for the 2014 "pals" will be held at the January meeting.

Lee Smith reported on the collection of items for the rummage sale. Space to store the items is now limited and large items cannot be taken at this time. For information on the donation of items, call 903-433-1159.

President Barbara Bennett announced that the group will be donating money this month to purchase items for a family in need. This will be one of the group’s community projects. Debbie Savage suggested the group participate in the "Be A Santa For A Senior" project. The club will provide gifts for two people. Darlene Reed will pick up these items and take them to the appropriate sponsor.

Betty May welcomed Phyllis Jaramillo as a new member.

Reed gave the tip of the day and Louise Vaughan gave the thought for the day.

Celebrating December birthdays were Reed, Jeannie Anderson and Betty Pendergrass.

Reed won the door prize and gifts were received from Barbara Bennett, Darlene Reed, Sharon Knapp and Savage.

The next meeting will be Jan. 6.
