Fall is in full swing in Texoma. That means that there are plenty of outdoor activities and plenty of celebrations in the area this weekend. So, if you are looking for some family-friendly fun, celebrate Ike’s birthday with events around Denison, celebrate butterflies in Sherman, go for a hike in Denison or to Celina’s annual park fest. This weekend, you can also attend a prom just for cowboys and cowgirls. Here are five super events for this Saturday:

1. Super Saturday

Butterfly Day at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 6465 Refuge Road in Sherman. There will be walks, talks, demonstrations, crafts for all ages, a native plant sale, story time, photo exhibit and more. Everything will be butterfly related. 2. Festival season

Celina Park Fest 2017 will be held from from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Old Celina Park, 12670 FM 428, in Celina. The family friendly festival will feature live music from chart-topping acts, more than 100 food and merchandise vendors, and a free Kids’ Zone filled with massive inflatable attractions and activities. This popular annual event will be presented rain or shine. General admission tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-17, military members and seniors, and children ages 3 and younger are admitted free. 3. Happy birthday Ike!

The Eisenhower birthday celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Eisenhower Birthplace Museum, 609 S. Lamar Ave., Denison. The I like Ike 5K and Fun Run will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the birthplace and there will also be a ceremony at the Eisenhower monument at Loy Lake Park. The celebration will continue in Denison with activities, displays, entertainment and free birthplace house tours. For more information, please call 903-465-8908.

4. Don’t remove the fossils

Join a park ranger to learn about the fossils at Eisenhower State Park, 50 Road 20, Denison, and then take a less than a mile hike to see what can be found. Meet at the Armadillo Hill Nature Trailhead at 1 p.m. Saturday for “Fossils! Hike to the Past.” You can also bring fossils you’ve already found for help in identification. But, please remember not to remove any from the park. Have weather appropriate clothing and good shoes for hiking over rough, possibly muddy terrain. Bring water to drink. This program is subject to cancellation due to weather. All programs are free with paid park admission, which is $5 per person 13 years and older.

5. Calling all cowgirls

The Sisters on the Fly at Reba’s Ranch House in Denison will hold their fundraiser Saturday to benefit the Room For Hope. The evening begins with a trailer decoration contest at 7 p.m. Then there will be a catered dinner and the cowgirl prom will start at 9 p.m. A prom king and queen will be crowned. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased ahead of time or at the door. The event will be held at 5036 Reba Dr. in Denison.
