A vibrant and diverse faith community is one of the qualities that makes Texoma such a great place to live. It is our privilege at the Herald Democrat to serve our readers with news that is faith related, through the newspaper’s faith section on Fridays.

Due to space limitations, we have recently reduced the amount of information we provide about weekly and regular church events. To return to our more expanded version of this coverage, we plan to move “Local news from area churches” to our website, effective September 22.

In order to do this, we need the help of our readers and others. Please provide us with regular service times and weekly programs one final time. After that, we will not need to receive this information weekly. We will still accept updates when changes are needed. For the special announcements and events, please continue to inform us about them and we will do our best to provide more coverage of these types of events.

Announcements can be brought into our office, or emailed to religion@heralddemocrat.com. Please be aware of our 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline and make sure to provide a daytime phone number with each announcement so that an HD employee can reach out in case we have questions.

This change will allow us to provide more information about the many ways our faith community serves the area on a regular and ongoing way. Additionally, it will allow us to provide more in-depth coverage of special announcements and featured articles.

The directory providing church locations will continue to appear in print in the faith section.

We hope these changes will enable faith leaders to continue providing important information on a regular basis without the space limitations recently imposed. And, we hope our readers will take pleasure in accessing that information on our website, while also enjoying more articles about special events in our printed format.

It is our privilege to continue serving our readers with coverage of this vital part of Texoma living.
