Editor's note: Item No. 2 on this list was canceled because of the threat of weather on Friday before the event took place.

This weekend in Texoma is mostly about the children. Friday and Saturday there will be several free events for children and families. Then on Saturday night, parents can have a night out and listen to some live music at Choctaw Casino. So if you are looking for some family friendly fun, Sherman, Denison and Durant, Oklahoma, have some events that you may want to partake in. However, these five events could be affected by rain.

1. Free movie weekend

There are two opportunities to catch free movies this weekend in Denison. The Denison Public Library will be showing the 2016 film “Boss Baby” Friday afternoon. The free movie will be shown at 4 p.m. at 300 W. Gandy St., Denison. All ages are welcome and popcorn and a beverage will be provided. Then on Saturday, patrons can catch the Pixar movie, “Inside Out” showing at Heritage Park. The movie is part of Main Street's “Movies on Main.” The movie begins at dusk around 8 p.m. Along with the movie, there will be concessions available and activities for children.

2. School supplies

UPDATE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. Even though the children have already gone back to school, local organizations are still giving out free supplies. The Back-to-school Bash hosted by Easy Life Realty will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at 603 N. Travis St. in Sherman. This event will include free food, free snow cones, live music and giveaways for students and teachers. Stop by the Easy Life office beforehand to donate school supplies.

3. More school supplies

If one day of celebrating back-to-school time is not enough, there will be a back-to-school celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kidd-Key Auditorium, 400 N. Elm, Sherman. Fill My Cup Ministries is offering entertainment, a bounce house, free food and free supplies to families of the community. There will also be a laptop giveaway.

4. Catfish country

Eisenhower State Park, 50 Road 20, in Denison will have a free fishing event Saturday. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be an angler education workshop and your park entrance fees will be waived. The event will start at the Cedar Hollow Picnic Pavilion and then move down to the lakeside.
