This weekend in Texoma is filled with family-friendly events. Whether you want to be indoors or outdoors, these five events are great for those looking to have some fun.
1. Cast your reel
Backyard fishing will be held from 5-10 a.m. Saturday at Eisenhower State Park, 50 Road 20, Denison. The park will present a fun casting game and there will be no hooks involved. The event is safe for all ages.
2. Bonding moment
Mother/son skatenight at Sherman Skateland, 3100 Versaille Dr., in Sherman, will be held from 5:15-7:15 p.m. Sherman Parks and Recreation is hosting the event at the Sherman rink, and there will be refreshments, door prizes and photos to commemorate this fun event. It is $20 for couples and $5 for each additional son.
3. Men at work
A presentation on how Bonham State Park was founded will be held from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Bonham State Park, 1363 State Park 24, in Bonham. Park rangers will take patrons on an exploration hike to learn about the Civilian Conservation Corps, how Bonham State Park was built and work to preserve that legacy. Those interested in attending should meet by the headquarters building at the flagpole and wear comfortable shoes appropriate for hiking, including a hat. Those planning to attend should also wear sunscreen and bring water. This event is subject to cancellation due to weather. The event is free with park entry. For more information, call 903-583-5022.
4. For the love of the game
Denison Library will have its weekly skate night on Friday. The game night begins at 4 p.m. and is open to children of all ages, however, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 903-465-1797.
5. Who done it?
The Sherman Community Players will host its annual fundraising benefit this weekend. The dinner theater performance will be a murder mystery. Tickets are $45 per person.
