Grayson men open season with victory

HERALD DEMOCRAT

POTEAU, Okla. -- Sophomore point guard Jeremy Geiger led four Grayson County College players in double figures with 24 points, and the Vikings opened the 2009-10 basketball season with an 82-65 non-conference win against Carl Albert State College on Monday night.

A trio of freshmen stepped up in their first collegiate games. Jordan Ellis added 16 points for the Vikings, while Rashad Miller finished with 12 and Javoris Anderson with 11.

The Vikings (1-0) led at the half, 41-29.

GCC will take on Northern Oklahoma College on Friday and Jacksonville College on Saturday in the Collin College Classic in Plano. The Vikings are on the road for the first two months of the season because of extensive ongoing renovations to their gym.
