Whitesboro ISD delays plans for bond election
BY JONATHAN CANNON
HERALD DEMOCRAT
After tabling the issue during a special meeting last week, the Whitesboro School Board and its community bond committee let pass Monday's deadline to call a May bond election.
District officials had expressed hope to hold a bond election this spring to pay for needs highlighted in January by the district's Visioning Committees.
"We met with the community along with the consultants with Cambridge (Strategic Services,)" said Whitesboro Superintendent Steve Kolb. "During that time, we were trying to come up with a proposal for a bond election. Because the timeline was so short, we were not able to really develop an accurate or thorough plan."
Kolb said there were not particular issues that stalled progress, just that needs outnumbered resources.
"When you're working within a limited budget, you have to start prioritizing those projects," he said.
Kolb said the bond committee will continue to meet and develop a plan with the hope of holding an election in November.
"The longer we meet, I think the better plan we'll come up with," he said.

They do not need an indoor workout center for football. save your money and debt for class rooms and teacher pay raises, not Taj Mahal's dedicated to the education god. Also cut your taxes don't spend like drunken sailors. It is the taxpayers money not yours.
