Sherman PoliceAssault -- Jan. 1, 12:30 a.m., 3600 block South U.S. Highway 75, A woman told police that her husband pushed her, then grabbed her by her jacket and dragged her across the floor.
Prohibited Weapon -- Jan. 1, 2:38 a.m., 400 block East Park Avenue, Police were called to the location in reference to shots having been fired. A 25-year-old Sherman man was jailed on a charge of having prohibited weapon. Assault by strangulation -- Jan. 1, 4800 block Timberview, A caller said she heard a woman yelling for help, and police rushed to the scene. There, they were told that the woman's boyfriend had choked her during an argument. Police jailed the suspect, 22, on a charge of assault on family by impeding breathing. He posted $1,500 bonds later that day.
Loud, disturbing noise -- Jan. 1, 4800 block Timberview, Police were called because of loud music. A man was jailed on the class C misdemeanor charge and on two outstanding warrants, which carried a total of $661 in fines. The suspect sat those fines out in jail and was released Tuesday.
Burglary -- Jan. 2, 1700 block East Ann Avenue, Someone stole several tools from a house which was being remodeled.
Burglary -- Jan. 2, 1200 block East Chaffin, Someone broke into a house and stole various items.
Assault with knife -- Jan. 2, 800 block East Chaffin, A woman told police her boyfriend assaulted her and pulled a knife on her son.
Assault -- Jan. 2, 500 block East Cottage, A woman waited several days to report that a named suspect hit her in the mouth and knocked out her tooth.
Unlawful restraint -- Jan. 3, 1200 block West Taylor, A woman told police her child's father had dragged her around her apartment, leaving visible injuries on her. Police jailed the suspect, a Dallas man, 19, on a charge of assault causing injury, and served an outstanding Dallas County warrant against him, listing the charge injury to a child, elderly, or disabled person with intent to cause bodily harm, and which allows for no bail.
3000 block Overland Trail -- Ben Dye Co. was the victim in an incident which happened between 11:45 a.m. and midnight Christmas Eve, Someone had entered a residence under construction and broke a water valve on an upstairs shower.
800 block North Grand -- Overnight, someone damaged the window on a vehicle parked on the street.
900 block North Grand -- Overnight, someone broke out the rear window on a vehicle.
900 block East Rosedale -- Overnight, someone broke out the window on a vehicle that was parked in a driveway.
900 block South Montgomery -- Overnight, someone broke out the driver side windows of two vehicles, possibly with a BB gun.
1300 block East Jones -- Overnight, someone broke out several windows on a vehicle.
600 block East Taylor -- During a two-hour period that a vehicle owner had parked her vehicle, someone flattened its front right tire. There were three puncture marks on the side wall which appeared to have been made with a knife.
Denison Police
Stalking suspect jailed -- Police jailed a 21-year-old Denison man on an arrest warrant charging him with stalking.
Theft -- Jan. 2, The complainant loaned his vehicle to a man, who returned it. But, when the complainant got it back, he found there was a large amount of cash taken from it.
Evading arrest or detention -- Jan. 3, 100 block West Day, A man called police to report his girlfriend had damaged his property.
Burglary -- Dec. 31, 931 block South Austin (Best Buffet), Someone broke out the front door glass, then made off with the cash register.
Criminal mischief -- Dec. 30, 2216 South Woodlawn, A Alpha Mini-Storage, A complainant reported a 2-inch circular hole in the office glass window, as if from a ball bearing he had found inside, Eppler said.
Assault with deadly weapon -- Jan. 1, 527 North Armstrong (Community Center), Police found a large group of people standing in the street, yelling and cursing each other. One woman approached him, saying they needed an ambulance. Bates reported that one man had several lacerations on his head and face, with a shirt wrapped around them to slow down the bleeding. Denison ambulance took him to a hospital for treatment. Police were told it was a bottle of some kind which had been used as a weapon, and the victim's injuries didn't appear to have been life-threatening.
