Sherman PoliceFeb. 1, Monday, 1900 block East Lamar, A witness called police to report he had seen two people go into a closed business. Police saw two men inside it and saw that the front glass had been shattered. The suspects, 19 and 20 years old, ran out the back door. One continued to run after police told him to stop. After being caught, the report states, he gave police a phony name. Police also found that several vehicles in the parking lot that had been burglarized. Both men were arrested on charges of burglary of building and burglary of vehicle. The elder also was charged with failure to identify.
Feb. 1, Monday, 600 block South Hazelwood, Officer Brett Mullen. Between 7 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 a.m. Monday, somebody broke into a vehicle. Taken were an in-car CD player, pool stick, GPS received, and a bottle of cologne, together valued at about $460.
Feb. 1, Monday, 700 block East Pecan, Officer Jeff Jones. During the night, someone removed stereo equipment from an unlocked Dodge truck.
Feb. 1, Monday, 401 East U.S. Highway 82 (Walmart), Between 9:50 a.m. and 10 a.m. Someone broke into a parked vehicle and stole property.
Feb. 1, Monday, 800 block South FM 1417, During Sunday's overnight hours someone forced entry into a vehicle and stole property.
Feb. 1, Monday, 2525 Texoma Parkway, Between Jan. 24 and Jan. 28, someone broke into a car and took medications.
Feb. 2, Tuesday, 4300 block Texoma Parkway, The manager of a car lot reported that a stereo had been removed from a vehicle on the lot.
Feb. 2, Tuesday, 600 block West Belden, Someone stole a television and desktop computer from a home.
Feb. 2, Tuesday, 1400 block East Lake, Someone stole a saw from a storage shed.
Also under investigation:
Theft over $1,500 -- Monday, Feb. 1, 3505 Texoma Parkway (Plyler Construction), Between Friday and Monday, several people entered the property from the rear and stole a welder. It was removed, Melson reported, from a trailer using a fork lift. The thieves then attempted to load it into their vehicle using the fork life, but it became stuck due to the ice and snow, so the thieves apparently dragged the welder through the lot and lifted it over a wall and into their vehicle.
Theft over $500 -- Monday, Feb. 1, 300 block South FM 1417, Between midnight Dec. 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday, someone took a ring from a residence.
Begging and drug arrest -- Monday, Feb. 1, 200 block East Houston, Police arrested a man, 38, who was begging for money in a parking lot. Later, the report stated, Vines found the man to be in possession of suspected narcotics.
Soliciting arrest -- Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2400 block North Shannon, A caller asked for police about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday because a magazine salesman was causing a disturbance. Hapiuk jailed the suspect, 22, on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting without a permit.
Shots fired -- Tuesday, Feb. 2, 300 block South Dewey, An anonymous caller asked for police help because a gun had been discharged. One person had left before police arrived, and that officers spoke with others there. The investigation into deadly contact is on-going.
Assault -- Tuesday, Feb. 2, 800 block Blanton, Twice Tuesday, police spoke with two women who each told them the other had assaulted her. The adult-age daughter said her mother had assaulted her. There were no injuries but she wanted to file charges against her mother. About the same time, the mother went into the police station to make a complainant against her daughter who, according to the reports, had broken her arm.
Assault -- Tuesday, Feb. 2, 100 block North Burdette, A woman told police her husband assaulted her twice that day. The suspect had not been located at report time.
