Police reports
Sherman PoliceSherman police reported that last week's appeal for information on the 11-month-old homicide case involving the shooting death of Latisha Rae Colson has resulted in more leads, all of which Sherman police detectives are investigating. Sherman police are offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in this homicide. Leading the investigation are Sherman police detectives Nic Emmons (903-892-7324) and Marc Miller (903-892-7346).
Drug arrests -- Sherman police made several drug arrest during the weekend, including the following.
* Jan. 15, 800 block South FM 1417, Police jailed a passenger, 23, after a traffic stop on charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana.
* Jan. 15, 4600 block Marshall, Police found one man, 18, in possession of marijuana and placed him under arrest. Also, they reported seeing another man, also 18, attempting to dispose of marijuana by eating it. He, too, went to jail on drug charges.
* Jan. 16, 100 block N. FM 1417 at West Houston, A traffic stop made because of a defective tail light resulted in the arrest of a woman on a charge of possession of marijuana.
* Jan. 16, U.S. Highway 75, On Saturday, about 2:20 p.m., police made traffic stop on after the driver failed to signal a lane change. A search of the vehicle uncovered a usable amount of marijuana, and a male passenger, 18, went to jail on a charge of possession of marijuana.
* Jan. 17, 900 block East Chaffin, Police jailed a man on a warrant charging him with possession of cocaine and a new charge of evading arrest or detention.
Assault with knife arrest -- Jan. 17, 5:32 a.m., 600 block East Rosedale, A man, 50, called police to report that his former girlfriend had attacked him with a knife, then fled. Police placed her under arrest on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.
Shoplifting to assault to robbery arrest -- Jan. 18, 401 East U.S. Highway 82 (Walmart), The store loss-prevention officers approached a man as he was attempting to steal merchandise from the store. The suspect, 30, took out a pocket knife and threatened to stab the store officers. They managed to subdue and detain him for police. The suspect was jailed on an enhanced charge of robbery.
Shoplifting to robbery -- June 15, 3912 Town Center (Famous Footwear), Police were called to the store by employees who reported that a man and woman entered the store and left with a jacket and a pair of shoes, for which they had not paid, and jumped into a parked vehicle. The employees reported that when confronted by store security outside, the couple sped off, almost hitting a store employee.
Theft of motorcycle -- June 16, 300 block North Burdete, Someone took a 1998 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, red with a purple stripe and valued at more than $1,500, and it has not yet been located.
Theft -- Jan. 15, Sherman Town Center, Police are looking at a store's employee as the suspect in several thefts from the store. Police jailed another person at the store, 27, on several outstanding warrants.
Burglaries -- Sherman police investigated at least 13 burglaries of vehicles between Friday and Monday. They recovered merchandise taken from two of those inside a dumpster at a Sherman fast-food restaurant. In each case, except one, entry was made through an unlocked door or by smashing a window, with one having been entered when somebody used some device to punch the lock out. The following reports were made by various investigating police officers and reflect the dates the complainants contacted police.
* Jan. 15, 1100 block E. Rosedale, stereo system taken;
* Jan. 15, 800 block Northcreek, unlisted property taken;
* Jan. 16, 2900 block Michelle, stereo taken;
* Jan. 16, 3310 Town Center, unlisted property taken overnight from three vehicles;
* Jan. 16, S. U.S. Highway 75 at FM 1417, tailgate and electronic items taken;
* Jan. 16, 2900 block North U.S. Highway 75, three jackets taken;
* Jan. 17, 100 block North Burdette, electronics, valued at $415, taken;
* Jan. 17, 400 block West Pelton, unlisted items taken;
* Jan. 17, 300 block North Colbert, stereo taken;
* Jan. 18, 2900 block North U.S. Highway 75, cash and cookware, valued at more than $50, taken;
* Jan. 18, 1600 block Lasalle, unlisted items taken.
