HALLOWEEN : 11/1/2009
HALLOWEEN IS A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY (HOLY DAY). IT IS ALL HALLOW'S (HOLY) EVE BECAUSE NOV. 1 IS ALL SAINTS DAY. IN CHRISTIANITY THE EVE OF A HOLIDAY SERVES AN IMPORTANT FUNCTION OF PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAY, E.G. CHRISTMAS EVE, NEW YEAR'S EVE. WE HONOR THOSE HOLY PEOPLE OF CHRISTIANITY AS WELL AS ALL THOSE WHO DIED (NOV. 2 ALL SOUL'S DAY). HOW DID SUCH AN INNOCENT CHILDREN'S. CUSTOM AS ASKING FOR CANDY BECOME A STATEMENT BY SOME CHRISTIANS THAT THIS HOLY DAY IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEVEL COME ABOUT? EVEN IF ONE CONSIDERS THE PAGAN CELTIC HOLIDAY - ALL EUROPE WAS ONCE PAGAN - THE CELTS DID NOT BELIEVE IN THE/A DEVIL. THEY SIMPLY THOUGHT THEIR DEAD COULD PASS THROUGH THE BARRIER BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. DOES NO CHRISTIAN BELIEVE HE CAN HOPE FOR HELP FROM HIS DECEASED LOVED ONES.
