Deaths of Farrah, Michael both should have been front page news

I just finished reading today's (6/26) and was disturbed by two articles and their placement.

First, I know that Michael Jackson's death was so sudden and was a tragic loss. It should be on the front page. But, I also feel that it was a tragic loss and just as sad losing Farrah Fawcett and her story was on page 12.

I think both articles should have been on the front page. Both died on the same day and both made big impressions on society only in different ways. The story on the events in Sherman were not as important as the death of Farrah Fawcett.

Seriously....Are you kidding me? Get a life. There is better front page news than that out there. There are certainly more tragic events happening daily around the world than this. Besides, we see enough of it every time we turn on the TV.

Back page at best

none

Farrah and Michael : 7/9/2009
The media coverage of Michael Jackson's death just goes to show the moral decay of our country and what it deems important. How many people know the count of soldierd that died this month protecting our freedom, let alone their names?? I could not believe that the major television networks interrupted regular programing for HOURS for that funeral. Granted, MJ had talent, but what did he ever do for ME? Nothing. He profited greatly from his talent and I'm sure helped many, but he was not a hero.

Sick of MJ

get real, people! : 7/5/2009
Since when did celebrity worship become such a priority to the American people? Oh wait, I forgot, that's why supermarket tabloids are so popular. With everything else happening in this world, you would think there would be better Page 1 news than the deaths of these two folks. Sounds like there are some folks who need to evaluate their lives and personal priorities.

rockin' in the real world

MJ on frontpage : 7/2/2009
Though their deaths do have their importance in the news, I would not waste my time wondering why they are not on the front page when they wont even put stories of your(not mine) (p)resident sending us down a highway to nanny state facism. How but some one doing some leg work and investigating and let the people of this area know exactly what Obamanation is trying to do to us with C(r)AP and Trade, Universal Health Care, government take overs of the auto industry. Farrah and MJ may be the lucky ones in this situation.

Yes They BOTH deserved to be on the front page : 7/1/2009
I do agree that there are a lot of things happening in the world; however, with two huge celebrities passing I think they both deserved to be on the front page of the news. Farrah Fawcett was a little before my time, but I used to watch the Charlie's Angels reruns as kid all the time. As a kid of the 80s' Michael Jackson was an entertainer ahead of the game. He raised the bar for music videos and practically made MTV. I'll never forget The Making of "Thriller" documentary. I have yet to see a music video that tops that one, lol. There is no doubt that he was an eccentric man; however, it would be ignorant to not acknowledge the fact he was probably the most charitable celebrity ever (eventhough Oprah may be a close second). Let's also not forget that he was acquitted of the molestation charges. I had heard on the radio recently that one of his accusers had even retracted his statement, since MJ's death.

To Dave : 6/30/2009
Michael J was not more of a star than Farrah. They were both in such different areas of entertainment. Farrah had class and was a wonderful person. Though I did like Michael back in the days when he performed, I did not like what he was turning in to. I am sure the outcome of Michael's death will be drugs. I also believe that death comes in 3's with entertainers. Has happened several times. I will miss them both.

Paula

MJ and Farrah : 6/29/2009
I think it sadly shows what the majority views as "newsworthy". How can it take precedence over the antics of North Korea, the brutality in Iraq, or the awesome news of the discovery of the remains of Paul. That was way down in the news, and needed some searching to find.

Needs news with relevance

not page one material : 6/29/2009
Inasmuch as Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson were talented in their fields, I disagree with them being put on page one of ANY newpaper of repute. Especially the middle-aged pedophilic freak show that was worshipped by those unwilling or stupid enough to ignore his antics. With everything else we have to deal with these days, the deaths of these two (and that of EdMcMahon) do not deserve Page One treatment. For those with little meaning in their lives, there are the supermarket tabloids to satisfy them, as well as "magazines" such as People and Us.

get real

Michael Jackson Farrah WHO : 6/28/2009
Michael Jackson was much more of a star than Farrah. That is why his death is front page news. Farrah not so important.

Jackson on front page? : 6/28/2009
I do not think the Jackson or Fawcett stories should have been front page news. This does not mean I do not have sympathy for them or their families. It means we have more important news to deal with than entertainers. My personal image of their morality is not favorable. I still remember Jackson continually having to grab his crotch while “entertaining.”. This nation is facing the most wide spread and dangerous changes that it has faced in a long time, if not the most dangerous time. So much of the world hates us, we are at war or in danger of war with too much of it, and our president and Congress are trying to make rapid changes that many just do not understand what the consequences will be. It is going to affect each and every one of us in drastic ways yet to be fully known. We are going to be hurting. This is front page news.

Shocked

Farrah and Michael : 6/27/2009
I'm sure the events might have been important to someone but I think the news of Farrah and Michael should be on the front page the day after the news broke. Both of these stars were very important in their contributions to the entertainment industry and I liked them both in their own right as well as Ed McMahon who died close to the same time. It is ok to remember them and pay tribute to them but remember, they are the creation, not the creator.
