LIVE BLOG — Sherman at Denison
Well all the hype and trash talk has led to this, the 111th Battle of the Ax. Sherman and Denison. Denison and Sherman. A packed house at Munson Stadium and the District 9-4A championship on the line.
I don’t think anyone expects anything less than another classic in the recent history of the rivalry, where three of the last four games have been decided by four points or less.
Will Denison continue its string of success be keeping the Ax for a third straight year and sixth time in seven tries? Or will Sherman not only claim the trophy but also its first district title since 2002?

What is the true record of the ax series. I attended Denison high school in 1985. The Herald listed the game as the 70th meeting, with Sherman holding a 43-31-6 edge. Have scores before 1912 been located as both local newspapers could not verify scores.
