Denison woman arrested for smuggling children

BY JONATHAN CANNON

HERALD DEMOCRAT

A Denison woman was arrested over the weekend on federal alien smuggling charges in South Texas at the border.

Madeline De Los Angeles Colondres, 32, was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge, when questioning revealed that the two minor girls, ages 13 and 15, she was traveling with were Mexican citizens, according to a criminal complaint filed against Colondres in U.S. District Court.

During initial questioning, Colondres said the girls were her nieces. But when she was sent to secondary question for "possible false claim to U.S. citizenship of the nieces," Colondres admitted the U.S. birth certificates she presented for the girls were fake, according to the document.

Colondres said she didn't even know the girls' real names and had met them at the airport in Merida, Mexico with their grandparents, according to the complaint.

Colondres admitted that she was given the certificates by the girls' father, Luis Castillo, who had asked her to bring the girls to Denison, the court documents state.

The girls were returned to Mexico and Colondres is being held by the U.S. Marshal Service awaiting a detention hearing Thursday.

Illegal Aliens : 11/2/2009
My son worked for a large construction company. He worked through a lunch. A large group of Hispanics were having lunch in the house. My son over heard them talking, so he questioned them about their conversation. This is what they told him....They are making $16.00 an hour, they send most money back to Mexico, they are in the U.S. to make money then go home, they love Mexico. They can build big, fancy, homes like the $600,000.00 home they are constructing for under $50,000.00 in Mexico. And live like a king. If you go to Mexico, illegally, and get caught, you will go to prison. And it is not like American prisons. You cannot fly any flag, only the Mexican flag. It is illegal. Foreigners cannot own land, but they can lease it for up to 99 years.

The only ones? : 10/30/2009
It seems to me that the Mexicans are the only people here illegally. No one else is? Hmmmm... How about the unemployed people work for wages we can afford to pay and like it. No they wouldn't like it. So when people will work for lesser wages, the unemployment will go down and the illegals will disappear.

Sheesh..... : 10/29/2009
P's and Q's.........George W. was the only president that put a plan forth to tighten border security. The American public went haywire and about 6 years ago people were going crazy (when I say people I mean family members of illegals) Even Kids in Sherman organized a "Walk OUT of schools" in protest of George W. policies and thought they had the right to be here... Which I agree with....as long as their parents, who weren't born here, go back to Mexico. You want facts on Border protection check out this link..http://www.usborderpatrol.com/Border_Patrol90.htm

This is why our Social Security base is shrinking. They are here to steal, scam sell drugs, and deceive all real Americans. Don't beleive anything they say, just prepare for whats coming. Even the American-Mexicans born in the U.S. hate it. Busload after Busload of Mexicans are all over the highways being planted in all areas of the US. No contraceptive is used, multiple babies to each Mexmother. Needs to stop or at least be regulated by the Goverment.Major problems between our soceity and the Visitors from the South.

That is actually very funny. Seriously.

Thanks for the laugh

Cheap Labor : 10/23/2009
You can blame Obama and respond that GW had 8 years to remove the illegals. Ask yourselves who benefits from cheap labor and it is a lot of powerful businesses. If you belong to a country club, the fees are less if cheap labor is mowing the grass. That individual that is mowing or whatever else, is not to blame for their efforts. They are poor like many of us. When the economy soured alot of people returned home. I know they cost citizens jobs. But think about it, they are here because our rich people and political leaders allow it. I can't imagine the conditions someone lives in that would cause them to take the risks of the desert and other hardships to get here. Just something to think about. No offense intended. I apologize in advance to the puntuation and spelling police. You see, I ain't too smart.

Oh well

Yeah Pimp Daddy : 10/22/2009
Jack Henry, I thought President Bush was going to continue the improvement we were having as a country. Now let's talk about the last eight years after a trillion dollar deficit for needless fighting overseas! No surprise we're in the current mess we're in! The democrats aren't the ones who have been letting the illegal immigrants infiltrate our country the last eight years! Ignorance comes forth loud and clear in the posts of you and Pimp Daddy! Get Real, your comment has no validation! President Obama isn't just going to let them in here on a free ride! Are you kidding? Typical conservative lie spreading! American, there you go throwing the word socialism out there! You probably don't even know what it means, b/c most of our jobs are government run, so I guess that means 90 percent of us are socialists. I guess that makes us bad people too right? Latina, if you were born in the US, you are AMERICAN! You're not Latin American, you're either Latin or American! If you don't like being an American, then head south!

Mind your Ps and Qs

Where Are the Credits? : 10/22/2009
I thought that Obama was going to penalize companies who outsourced and give incentive to companies that created and maintained US jobs? That is what he said when he was campaigning. I guess that was like everything else he said though - it will never happen!

The Border Crossed US! : 10/22/2009
Thumbs up to Chris M & I.M.wondering....How many of you that made the racist commeNts consider yourselves "Christians", let justice do it's job and leave the hate out of it! Yes you too would try to cross the border if you had nothing to eat!

reading through the comments posted I can't help but wonder when enough is enough. If we the huddled masses continue to "allow" our elected officials to circumvent the LAW, not enforce the LAW or to rewrite the LAW to fit their needs then shame on us. We need to vote, write our "elected" officials and cry in outrage PUBLICALLY when the law is broken and not enforced. If you are ILLEGALLY in this country and live, work and otherwise abuse our system then you have NO rights and we have EVERY right to enforce the laws in order to make you go away. Speak up citizens the squeaky wheel always gets the grease, because if we don't then shame on us.

Citizen in Denison

Look around : 10/21/2009
There was one family in the 60's that were hispanic in Denison. The two brothers in the 6th grade did not speak English and they spit on the floor. That was an aberation and overlooked. Today, they have filled many customer service jobs that they barely are able to compentley handle. The corporations are filling these jobs with the lowest paid. The only thing that I think will make a change-is don't shop there. Use local busnesess that promote and enrich the community, not companies that outsource products and services. Spend a little extra-buy American

Really

Illegals? : 10/21/2009
Illegals? Prove it? We are a country of laws? Surely we inforce the law? Illegal? How can it be against the law that is not enforced?

You don't have a USA. that was then

Ha Ha Hahahahahaha ha : 10/21/2009
Hmmm...Way to go! you spend taxpayer dollars for all of these economic development boards, councils, boondoggles and this is what you get? They say that hundreds of jobs are coming to the old J&J plant? Remember? or was it the Gloppylator building? or both? or some other industrial slum-plex. But, then they give tax credits, tax abatements, tax whoopie cushions to go in comfy office chairs for the nuevo-buds. They find companies to set up shop and "bring home the bacon" to Dear ol' Sher-town. But then again, when you are on vacation in Mexico you see signs advertising "new jobs" at TY"NINO" foods. The schools build new schools to accommodate the huddled masses. They hire teachers to habla to the huddled masses. Purchase curriculum, desks, computers, janitorial supplies, "teacher watchers", train up the whole biz and "POW!" Got yourselves more minimum wage workers right cheer in Minimum Wagerville. Just so happy to be here. I love it when a plan comes together. Success! just like we intended. Fifty years ago it was decided that Sherman would be the Industo-slum, Denison would be the Old Money Pit, and Pottsboro would be the place everyone wanted to be. Do you really think that it was an accident that Denison had an industrial park to nowhere built between the town and Lake Texoma? Silly Sheeple... Who owns the lands of which I speak north of Denison? Who do you think owns the property out by the lake? Silly Sheeple!

Bwa-hahahahahahahahaha

To: Chris Mitchell : 10/21/2009
Chris, I appreciate your honesty on the matter and believe you to be sincere. However, are YOU willing for you and your spouse to work for half or less of what you are currently making? That is what is happening with illegals coming over here taking jobs away from legal citizens and significantly lowering the wages. There are poor people in Mongolia too and I have no problem with them. However, just because $5 per hour sounds good to them, I am not wanting to have to work for $5 per hour just because "it is better than what they are used to making" or to "be fair" to the world. This is socialism. As far as the situation and not knowing about her life, the woman is from Denison (I assume she is legal). She was smuggling two kids over here so I doubt a 12-year-old kid, of her own accord, left her family to seek "a better way of life over here". Besides, what kind of parents smuggle their kid into another country with a strange person that they do not know???

To add a comment...read where a man says he bids against illegal immigrants...well they will work for less because they are use to being poor and not having much and content with not making as much as a US born worker...we are a fat society that should not be concerned with what we don't have. I too get irritated with the unfairness on both sides...but I am more on the side of the human race and the fact is we have become lazy Americans who expect way too much for very little...there is a reason why there is so much poverty..and it isn't the Mexicans coming over...they are finding work...working for less....because they need less...if that bothers you then maybe you should take a look at yourself the mirror and maybe change up your priorities

Well this has two sides as always. None of us know the history behind the woman or the state of her life. I empathize with many Americans and the concerns with unauthorized workers. Not knowing her situation, who is to say that she was in a very bad life and in desperation came to America to better her way of life. There are many Americans who have became extremely lazy, and selfish. Just because an individual is born a US citizen doesn't give them merit to be lazy. We should be thinking of ways to better ourselves while showing others foreign or not. I hear hatred for people who may just want to better themselves and thier family. What if you were in a position that your life was horrible, living below poverty because of lack of opportunity...what would you do. As Americans...we need to quit taking our way of life for granted...quit siting on our hands and pointing fingers.

Send her and all that you can find back to there own country

ACORN : 10/21/2009
Maybe she was just taking them to an ACORN office to set them up in a business and register them as democrats!

Pimp Daddy

Amnesty : 10/21/2009
I hope that everyone reading this and voting in 2010 will remember that these are the people that Obama and many democrats want to give amnesty to! They want to give these ILLEGAL ALIENS (excuse me, I mean "undocumented workers") US citizenship and immedaitely entitle them to benefits. As has already been said on here, this is why honest, LEGAL Americans can't get benefits - too many people like this that our government is worried about!!

Get Real

Again : 10/20/2009
Revoke the citizenship of her and the other person that was with her.And send them all back, there would be no unemployment if they were gone. And don't give me this crud of they only do jobs that no one else will do, I bid jobs daily against these people and don't get half of them. SEND THEM HOME!!!!!! Are you listening local government, start fining anyone that hires them including yourselves, ie:the projects remodeling,

Moving to Mexico to see if they give me everything free like we do for them.

Shouldn't be tolerated! : 10/20/2009
Lock her up and throw away the key! This illegal immigrant crap has to stop. If I remember correctly, there was a truck full of them a few years back trying to get here as well. This is the reason our own LEGAL American citizens can't get health care, b/c of those who don't belong getting it for free!

Sick of this crap!

Denison woman arrested for smuggling children : 10/20/2009
She just wanted to bring two children into the U.S. to better them..... yea, and I'll bet someone in Denison was going to have a maid service.

I.M. Wondering

: 10/20/2009
I would wonder what the reason for bringing two children into the U.S. and especially Denison. There is more to this than the article reads.
