BY KATHY WILLIAMS

HERALD DEMOCRAT

SHERMAN -- State District Judge Jim Fallon welcomed new Grayson County Chief Probation Officer Alan Brown at a ceremony on Wednesday.

State district and county court-at-law judges form the committee which selects the new chief and who brought Jason Kirk on board to serve as interim chief.

"Jason has done an outstanding job as interim chief," Fallon said. "We hear good feedback. I'm glad Jason is still around and hope that he is going to stay on as assistant.

County Court-at-Law Judge James C. Henderson introduced Brown as an experienced probation officer. He is leaving his post of 12 years as chief juvenile probation officer for Hunt County. Henderson said Brown is a 20-year veteran of the criminal justice system, also serving as a probation official in Kaufman County and Bryan County. Brown earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He also holds a master's degree in criminal justice from Texas A&M University at Commerce.

I totally agree with the above authors comments. I have PERSONALLY know folks that have worked in the probation offices that have been terminated for reasons that would and should have invited lawsuits. I know that texas is a right to work/fire state, but there are some serious personal vendetta things going on and I would be HAPPY to share them with anyone doing a story on this. I happen to know of 4 firings that were WAY out of line.

Maybe the newspaper should dig into Jasons firing former employees and how he went about it. As someone that has NOT worked there but knows alot of folks that do, there are some VERY shady acts done to fire folks and get other folks in there. I am SURE that it would make great reading for the people that have no idea how corrupt and self serving Mr Kirk is. Lets see if there is a reporter that wants to crack a story open and make more than just the local news. Just go back thru the probation officers alone that have been terminated and talk to them and get both sides and I assure you, you will walk away needing a shower from the unclean feeling you get from the whole deal.
