Trenton police arrest city hall burglary suspects
BY MARY JANE FARMER

TRENTON -- Trenton police jailed three people in connection with the recent burglaries of Trenton City Hall.
Trenton Police Chief George Warren said there have been four burglaries within two and a half weeks before catching suspects in the act on Monday night. The first, Nov. 18, was worked by Fannin County Sheriff's Office because, Warren said, he was out of town at the time. The intruder made it into the front office and damaged several drawers as if searching for cash.
On Nov. 25, the intruders got inside, but because the alarm sounded, they fled, and were gone when officers arrived within minutes.
Between Friday and Sunday morning this past weekend, a thief or thieves again made entry into City Hall. This time, they got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after forcing their way into the front office.
Monday, police visually saw one suspect inside city hall about 6 p.m., an hour after it closed. Warren said he saw a vehicle pull up, a passenger get out and go through a gate to the back. He watched, he said, as the suspect went inside the back of the building and turned off the alarm. That done, he quickly located a cash box and left the office. Outside, Officer Michael Moore took him into custody.
From the police interview, the agency developed two more suspects, including the woman who drove the first suspect to City Hall and waited outside in her vehicle. Those two have also been arrested. They were jailed on charges of burglary of a building.
Warren said that Fannin County S.O., and Bonham and Leonard police departments aided in the entire investigation, which is continuing. He expects more charges to be filed against the suspects at the completion of the investigation.
