Grayson commissioners to consider tax levy

BY JERRIE WHITELEY

HERALD DEMOCRAT

SHERMAN -- Grayson County commissioners will talk taxes at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Grayson County Courthouse as they consider the 2009 tax roll and levy presented by Grayson County Tax Assessor Collector John Ramsey.

Ramsey's request to get on the agenda showed the 2009 tax roll value to be $6,250,474,240 and the tax levy to be $30,481,170.

Commissioners will also talk money when they consider a request to accept a $15,000 donation from an anonymous donor for the purchase of bullet-proof vests for deputies.

County leaders will also consider a request to recognize citizens who completed the 2009 Community Emergency Respone Team training offered by the Grayson County Office of Emergency Management.

Commissioners will also consider a request to authorize County Judge Drue Bynum to execute an interlocal agreement with NCTTRAC for Video Teleconferencing Project. The request to put this item on the Court's agenda said that the video teleconferencing project, "improves regional health and medical response capacity by providing video teleconferencing equipment for communications between regional and local emergency operations centers, and selected acute care facilities, and provides a redundant communications medium for response officials during emergencies."

It also provides a communications system for remote attendance at training events and meetings that may be broadcast over the VTC system. Total acquisition value of this equipment package is $13,600. There is no cost to Grayson County for the equipment.

Commissioners will also consider:

  • act on request to declare seizure vehicle as surplus & replace it with another;
  • act on request to approve two Sprint Aircard Accounts for the Health Department;
  • act on request to award bid for floor repairs to Hangar 5513;
  • act on request to issue a solicitation of bids for the Juvenile Building roofs;
  • act on request to make a road cut at 88 Live Oak Lane in the Sherwood Shores area, in Gordonville Precinct 4, to install a new water service;
  • act on request to approve interlocal agreement with the city of Tioga as presented.
