Denison Fire Department responded to a head-on collision and a natural gas leak on  Monday.

Denison F.D. Assistant Chief Bill Ray said that they were called to the corner of Lillis and Morton, where service stations set nearby, because of a gas leak. Ray said a construction company had been digging and struck a large high-pressure line, causing it to spew out a dangerous amount of gas.

Firefighters cordoned off the area and evacuated two stores. When Atmos work crews arrived, the firefighters pulled the line off and, Ray said, they got it capped with no other incident.

After Monday's gas leak, Denison Fire Department sent ambulances to a two-vehicle wreck on Armstrong Street, in a 35-mph speed zone. Ray said the driver of one vehicle, a white passenger car, was distracted by something inside the car and it crossed the center line. Denison police Lt. Mike Eppler said that car was southbound. A red pickup was northbound and, when its driver saw the passenger car coming toward him, he steered to his left. That was the same direction the car's driver steered, to her right, also to take evasive action and avoid a collision. The two met head-on.

Ray and Eppler said both drivers went to Texoma Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Also Monday morning, a parked car rolled into another vehicle behind the police station. Eppler said there was little damage and no injuries.

"was distracted by something inside the car"...Please check her cellphone records and if she was using it at the time (incoming msg, outgoing msg, talking, etc) charge her with DWD (Driving While Distracted) so the other person does not have to bear the responsibility of her poor choices...
