Denison beats arch rivals; wins district championship

BY JASON DELLA ROSA

HERALD DEMOCRAT

DENISON -- When Jordan Taylor finally stepped behind center as the full-time starter for the first time, it was in the final game of his sophomore season.

He had played sparingly at quarterback before then, spending more time catching passes rather than throwing them. But Taylor was suddenly under pressure in taking over the Denison offense two years ago, facing Sherman for the first time.

Taylor led the Jackets to a thrilling come-from-behind victory that night and saw his team trailing against the Bearcats at half-time a year ago before a second-half surge.

This time he orchestrated from in front capping his final home game with a four-touchdown performance as Denison defeated Sherman, 43-28, at Munson Stadium on Friday night in the 111th Battle of the Ax.

"His coming out party was this game his sophomore year," Denison head coach Cody White said. "He's an outstanding player. He's a champion."

Taylor ran for 175 yards and three scores on 20 carries while completing 13-of-15 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown. With two Ax victories under his belt, there was pressure to perform in the spotlight once again.

"I had a final in my government class and it was difficult to focus on that with the game coming up," Taylor said. "I was pretty nervous coming in but playing in two before this, I calmed down pretty quick."

It was the third straight time and sixth in the last seven years for the Yellow Jackets to take the rivalry game. The stretch ties for the longest Denison success against Sherman since 1942-48.

"They're a great football team," Sherman head coach Gary Kinne said. "They deserved to win tonight. They outplayed us and they outcoached us. They did a better job. But it won't always be like that, and we'll get it to where it needs to be. But tonight they were the better team."

Denison (9-1, 7-0) won the District 9-4A title for the second straight season and now has district titles in five of the last seven years and 26 overall.

"It feels amazing," senior defensive tackle Devonte Kemp said. "Three times the Ax holder and back-to-back district champs."

Both teams open the playoffs this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against 10-4A opponents -- Sherman (8-2, 6-1) faces Newman Smith at Clark Stadium in Plano while Denison battles Richardson Pearce at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco.

Although there weren't a lot of big plays by either side, the Jackets were content to move in five and six-yard chunks.

"That was the game plan coming in," senior center Corbin Boettger said. "They like to blitz a lot and we had to chip away at them."

Taylor connected with Cody Reeves for a 27-yard touchdown on the game's opening possession. On the previous play Reeves had a score called back on a penalty but the next snap resulted in a touchdown when he leaped over Robert Fallon at the front right pylon.

Late in the first quarter Sherman had a chance to tie the game but Madison Carter fumbled trying to pitch the ball to Zac Whitfield inside the Jacket 10-yard line.

Hayden Chapman recovered and although Denison was forced to punt, Reeves uncorked a wind-aided 78-yarder to the Bearcats' four-yard line. A short field allowed Denison's offense to crank back up and D.J. Jones had a 30-yard touchdown run with 7:35 left in the first half.

"That's a 14-point swing and we couldn't overcome it," Kinne said. "It's a game of inches and they were able to stop us and get the key turnover and we weren't able to stop them and get the key turnover. That was the difference."

Whitfield, who finished with 129 yards on 18 carries, answered with a one-yard touchdown on the ensuing possession which started with great field position after a 44-yard kickoff return by Nathan James.

Taylor had his first touchdown, an eight-yard run, and then added the conversion with 1:44 left in the quarter. The Jackets forced Sherman to punt with just under a minute left, getting a sack by Aaron Morrison on third down.

"When we got the ball back there we knew we had to get another score," Boettger said. "We executed well and put it in."

The first play looked like a touchdown of 69 yards by Kyle Galyon but a penalty on the play made it only a 44-yard gain. With 10 seconds left, Taylor scored from five yards out and Denison held a 29-7 half-time lead.

"We got a little momentum and with the short clock and forcing them to punt, those time-outs were huge," White said. "How the kids ran the clock, they managed things, that was big."

The Jackets finished with 12 penalties for 140 yards and had two touchdowns called back but went on to score later in those drives.

"We got a little flag happy," White said. "We've got to be better than that."

Perhaps the biggest penalty came on the opening drive of the third quarter when Sherman faced fourth and seven at the Denison 19. Carter's pass over the middle was incomplete but a dubious pass interference call kept the Bearcats' drive alive. Whitfield punched it in from three yards out two plays later.

The next two Jacket possessions ended on touchdown runs by Taylor and Jones, who finished with 109 yards on 18 carries, to give Denison a 43-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Carter led a pair of scoring drives, connecting with Geoff Hooker for a nine-yard touchdown with just over seven minutes left and then hitting John Welborn for a four-yard score on fourth down with 2:50 remaining.

Sherman tried a pair of onside kicks but Jared Mitchell recovered the first for the Jackets while the second one didn't travel the required 10 yards before James jumped on it for the Bearcats.

"Things didn't go our way," Welborn said. "It's a learning experience. It hurts, but we're going to bounce back."

Denison sealed the victory when Morrison laid a big hit on Hooker, Christian Herd forced the fumble and Stacy Golston fell on it as the Jackets then ran out the clock.

"That's the best football team we've played," White said. "To be able to get a win like that is impressive."

Jackets rock!!! i loved the game. it was my first battle of the ax to attend and i was glad denison won. though both teams did a great job and i thought the game would have been closer. i attened both schools during high school so i felt a little weird but my sister is a stingerette so hands down who i was going for. maybe next year will be bearcats year!!!

Jackets fan!!!!

It's not the end : 11/11/2009
There is NO doubt that the are both great teams. Yes, some Denison players did lose their temper but we see that almost every year so we should expect that and Sherman is no angel either. I would say they did seem to keep their tempers more in check though. My child graduates this year so by next year I won't even care. In my opinion though I think it's silly to come on here acting like some of the posters are. This game isn't a life or death game and it is after all just a high school game. It won't make or break a team. I'm a bearcat fan and I say congrats to both teams for such a great season and I wish both teams the best of luck Friday.

final year bearcat fan.

rivalry : 11/11/2009
this is a rivalry game people. what do you expect. the controversy and dirty play is what makes this game so special. its football. what do you expect. people getting on kinne for going on the field after a bad call need not forget about bob brown doing this all the time. and i played for the guy so i know trust me. and there is absolutely wrong with that in my opinion. get real people. kinne is a great coach. quit saying same record as last year. just quit. FAR LESS talent. imagine if he had a jeremy gray or waymon james to play with. he did a great job in my opinion and im a jacket alum. bad language? once again, this is FOOTBALL. you act like every player on that field isnt swearing every other word. the times are changing, better catch up or be an irrelevant internet blogger. im out. 43 to 28. enough said.

To all of those who care about the need for better athletic facilities, Make plans now to come to the next SISD school board meeting Nov. 16. Come and let your opinon be heard. There will be no change unless the School Board members see and hear the need from you. Thank You

8 players dragged off the field for fighting... WHEN?? Words were said while shaking hands after a game & unless you were in that line & actually know what was going on, you really shouldn't comment! What led to punches being thrown??? Once again you shouldn't comment or lets make it fair and talk about the blatant kicking by Sherman players on downed Denison players...no dirty play there... hmmm...no flag. Don't be so naive flags are only about who gets caught! Warning for the band...whats up with that?? The refs couldn't get Sherman the win so they went after the band???

Denison Fan made some good points. People are praising coach Kinne for what??? He has the same record as Coach Young did last year. And to the parents that are singing his praises - do you really know everything that's going on?? Do Christian men berate officials midfield? There's just no excuse for that. I also don't like the blame about how late he got these kids. He was hired early/mud July, why didn't he start getting to know them THEN?? I heard when coach tipps and young were hired they stayed the nights in the coaches offices until all their stuff was moved. Don't use late start as an excuse. I'm afraid that bearcat football and all sports are on the verge of major meltdown.

Softer spots to land than me, little buddy...You just keep tearing down your own program...I believe your quote in another thread was something to the effect of, "I don't care one bit about the J.V. or Freshmen team." Your coach acted like a 5 yr. old both games I saw him in action. It is easy to act your age when you're up 50 on some spare Frisco team, but your character really shows in tight situations. I would have like to have been at the Lake Dallas game to observe him then. I don't need to hear what he is saying...My point was of where he was saying it...midfield...Is that a leader of young men ? I'm just asking...

Excellent Coach : 11/10/2009
I am very happy that Kinne is the coach of the Sherman Bearcats. It is good to have a coach that will instruct or correct players in practice or on the field and not be afraid of them throwing a tantrum. It is also good to have a coach that is willing to make referees aware of a questionable call and not just walk up and down the sideline mumbling to himself. Kinne has had a positive impact on the team and is willing to give each player a chance to prove what they can do. This has not always been the case. As far as attending other sports, give him a break. He had a very late start with the football team and coaches so I would bet he had to spend a lot of extra time this fall working with them. I am sure he would like to attend the other sports and I am also sure he would like to spend more time with his family. Give both him and the team the support they deserve. All this whining doesn't do anyone any good. Good luck to the Bearcats and Yellow Jackets in the Playoffs.

Football is just a game. Let the kids have fun playing. Theres no reason to get worked up over it. I dont know why people down other people. Seriously. Live your life and have fun doing it. Why have unnecessary nonsense in your life? Live, Laugh, and Love. Both teams have great players. Its a game and it is over with now. Do something better with your time instead of downing others . Life is too short. HAVE FUN!!! Dont hate, congratulate.

What is the world coming to???

How Denison fan gets all upset b/c the Sherman coach yells at the referees. Could you hear what he was saying amongst the full house of fans? Can a coach not yell at a referee? Are you kidding me? What I love is Denison fans coming on here whining about a pass interference call they didn't like and how the penalties weren't evenly called. Penalties aren't about being even. You committed 12 of them for 140 yards! Get disciplined! You won the game. Quit whining

Sherman has a great coach! I hear nothing but good stuff about him. As far as the Denison game we lost to a very good team and their quarterback is terrific. I wish them well in the playoffs and I wish my beloved Bearcats well also.

You might want to recheck your sources because hasn't the head coach already been reprimanded by the school district earlier this year for his language toward players?

For every program??? : 11/9/2009
I think if you want what's best for "EVERY" program then maybe you should show up to one of the games. I've never seen him at my kids games or practices and from what I understand none of the other coaches ever see him ever. He's not real friendly or supportive of the teachers either. But we are in Texas where all that matters is a winning football program so Sherman is going to get what they ask for. Maybe you should ask the folks at Clovis what they think as they are dealing with a bankrupted athletic program.

Watching a program on the verge of ruins....

I can't get a grain of salt small enough to use when it comes to giving a rat's behind about what you feel about me or anything else for that matter. At least when I come on here, it's to discuss the issues or the post at hand. I don't come on here and attack other posters. I believe your ignorance speaks for itself and the others who come on here and post and/or read what you just said realize that. They're smart people, you obviously are oblivious to the fact when you say such things. I laugh and your true colors shine brightly for the rest of us to see. HA!:) Man, you digest what I say and must write it down, b/c I know you can't remember it all. Yes, I really could care less about the freshmen and jv. They all have capable coaches and will continue to learn the game, develop and will get their due on varsity should they be talented enough. I'm not going to get on here and gripe and belly ache about a field that's in a flood plain, continue to spell plain incorrectly b/c I'm ignorant and not go to the school board and put my money where my mouth is. I really enjoyed the Battle of the Ax like I do every year, and I'm NUTS about it. I'll continue to spend on my bills and groceries and let you worry about the turf. By the way, the team would have the same record w/ the previous coaching staff in charge. Kinne has done nothing this year differently, and if he's fortunate enough to win one football game, then it doesn't turn Sherman into a Class 4A powerhouse. I hope you bathe in the success of one playoff win. I enjoy these kids as much as anyone else, but they can only do so much. Those who throw out personal attacks have issues, and I believe yours is being "Green" with envy. Spare us!

Re: Sheeeeesh!! : 11/9/2009
Nobody in Denison ever fails and everyone is always eligible? What were you thinking when you wrote that? Seriously? It's all just a big conspiracy, huh? Cut the crap! My ex boyfriend was the starting center AND a defensive lineman just a couple seasons ago. He failed a class and he didn't get to play the last game of the season. I'll give you one guess which game he had to sit out. BATTLE OF THE AX!!! Now don't you think if there was something fishy going on it would have been fixed so that a player who plays every down on both sides of the ball would have been playing the biggest game of the season instead of sitting next to me in the stands? There goes your theory down the drain. I know plenty of other guys who have had to sit out, but I wanted to give you a specific example so you could wrap your little mind aroud it. Also, you want to forget about the sideline infraction and Sherman fumble and "it's a tie or at least a 1 point ball game" Hmm...let's add the two Denison touchdowns that were called back and subtract the Sherman touchdown that was the result of a bogus pass interference call. I know it's a lot of math, but what's the point difference now?

DHS Alum '07

Lead by Example : 11/9/2009
The Sherman coach may be a great guy, but as a role model of how to handle a bad call, he is lacking. I have never seen a coach call a time out...come out to midfield...BERATE the official, and get away with it. I know the guy has gone through tremendous adversity and I am very proud of him for having fought his way through it, but that doesn't give you a pass to act like a lunatic during some perceived bad calls on the field. I saw it in the Mckinney and Denison games...

: 11/9/2009
Of course it was taken care of in practice . . . You have a player ejected & 8 players have to be dragged off the field after the game for fighting. Wow! That'll teach kids not to play dirty . . . run them in practice. Obviously it didn't work - you had another player ejected the following game. That'll teach them not to play dirty. By the way . . . Coach Kinne was not berating the refs at midfield. He was fighting TERRIBLE calls for his team. If that's classless . . . I'll take it every game.

Bearcat Fan- If you are so upset about your new head coach/AD, then why don't you quit writing about him on blogs & talk to him in person. I know for a fact that he is a good, Christian man. He is competetive and doesn't take well to whining coaches, players, or disloyal fans. I think with what he has been through, he shouldn't either. When you get your information from other coaches that want his job, then your perception of him is going to be biased. He is also going to do what is best for every program, regardless of whether the coaches of those programs agree. Change is hard. People don't like it when someone new comes in & does things different than what they are used to. I talk to the players on the team personally & know they are VERY happy he is here & so glad he came. Jealousy from others is a hard pill to swallow. He needs coaches & the community to support him. As far as the bad language goes, check your info . . . it's not coming from him, just those that want what he has. A true fan supports the team & THE COACH.

I keep reading the post from "a TRUE Bearcat fan" and it just keeps on giving. You start out with "I think it's ridiculous the people that get on these blogs and act like they know what's going on" - and then promptly get on this blog and act like you know what's going on! LOL! That is comedy GOLD! Then you follow with "Is it just me or doesn't the UIL have rules against players being ejected? Are they not out the following game?" Obviously, they're not, sport. Or do you think there was some conspiracy between Denison and the UIL to have all their players for the Sherman game? And you want "something done" when two separate players in two separate games get tossed. You want them to bring out red cards or something? This isn't soccer, buddy. Furthermore, all you saw was a punch. You have no idea what led to it. Oh, but I forget. You guys are nothing but class and would never say or do anything that might get you popped, right?

On ejections : 11/9/2009
To A TRUE Bearcat Fan: There is no UIL rule regarding ejections by players, only coaches. Discipline comes from within the program. And in the case of both players, it was done during practice.

An absolute joke : 11/9/2009
And I'm referring to some of the comments here, especially from "A TRUE Bearcat fan". I agree that booing a high school team coming onto the field is classless - like when the Sherman fans were booing the Jackets. If you watched the game replay from KTEN, even their announcer pointed it out. And you have the nerve to rag on Denison for it? Give me a break. I live out of town, but my sister told me about some skit on Mad Rock making fun of Denison's QB, basically portraying him as an imbecile - a high school kid. Where's the class there? And every year, it starts with Bearcats spouting off - every single year. You people are unbelievable, crying about the refs when Denison got more penalties than Sherman did. Look, you lost to a better team and part of having the class that you people are so apparently full of is doing so gracefully. The fact that you aren't speaks volumes. I think you have somehow confused hypocrisy with class.

Still Happy

: 11/9/2009
I do love the Bearcats - in all sports. However, I'm very discouraged by seeing and hearing the actions/words of our new head football coach. And isn't he the new athletic director too? I think that I heard that he was. The language that he uses, and the way that he speaks to his coaches and players is totally unacceptable. He totally demoralizes them. So many decisions that he's making are immoral and unethical. I'm not trying to stir stuff up, if you think that this is gossip - please talk to players, coaches, as well as coaches in other sports. It's a shame that great men, women, and kids have to be surrounded by this man daily. Please administration, parents, and fans investigate this and see what you can uncover - it is very upsetting.

Being from the class of 1981, I remember being in 5A playing (trying to play) against teams that were just bigger, better, and faster than we were. Winning was not something we did very much of in those days. I moved away, but watched from a distance at how Denison has built a good athletic program. I have resided in Sulphur Springs for a couple of decades now. I watched as our community came together to win the State Chamionship last year. It is amazing at how similar the comments to stories from our run last year, sound like the same ramblings here. Quit griping and just be proud of your kids.

My bad : 11/9/2009
Bearcat fan, I stand corrected on that. No offense taken at all. It's nice to see a few people in here who know what they're talking about. Those who say Sherman didn't have a chance had Coach Kinne not been a bonehead can't do math. Not saying Denison wouldn't have won at all, but Sherman scores there and it's a 29-21 game. Who knows what happens after that? Denison won plain and simple just stating fact that Sherman did have a chance at crucial point in game.

Mind your Ps and Qs

0 Knowledge : 11/9/2009
Mind Your Ps and Qs you have no idea what you are talking about when you get on here, all you want to do is argue with another post. You have no clue what it takes to have a successful program ( facilities, good coaches, athletes and fan base, not always in that order ). This is from a person who said he didn't give a rip about the sub-varsity programs, only came to watch when they were varsity. Sir you are nothing but a argumentative nut. I think it's ridiculous the people that get on these blogs and act like they know what's going on. First of all, it is obvious that Denison overall has more talent than Sherman, but a lot less class. I think that when you have two athletes ejected from the game two weeks in a row, something should be done. I also think it's pretty classless to boo the opposing team when they enter the stadium or run onto the field. They are kids who are representing their school to the best of their ability and shouldn't be treated the way Denison treated Sherman Friday night. Hmm . . .Is it just me or doesn't the UIL have rules against players being ejected? Are they not out the following game? Someone needs to look into that. . . Also, as far as the comments about Kinne goes, people sure are complimentary & quiet until you lose. What Kinne has done this season so far is remarkable. He came in right before the season started and has gone 8-2. He definitely did not have the time to prepare for the season like Denison & all the other coaches in his district. He did not know one player & only brought two coaches with him. He had two or three coaches on staff interview for his job, which I'm guessing probably created a some turmoil on his staff. His situation coming in so late certainly wasn't ideal. He also doesn't have the talent of last years team. Give this man some time. His record speaks for itself. As far as him stepping in front of the referee, if you were at the game, you know that crew of refs were the absolute WORST ever! Kinne didn't get in his way, he was TOTALLY biased & threw another ridiculous flag to change the momentum of the game. I think it's crazy when we are more worried about a coach running down the sidelines than a Denison player punching a Sherman player during the game. Where was that flag? Bearcat fan - you want to point out that Kinne cost the Bearcats 8 points, PLEASE! Let one of the assistants get his job this year & our record would be reversed! If your a true fan, then you need to support & not criticize a coach trying to help his team. Regardless of the outcome of Friday nights playoff game, kudos to Kinne for bringing excitement & discipline to a team that desperately needed new leadership. I expect big things to come in the future for our Bearcats.

To Mind your Ps and Qs: just a quick correction - it was not an assistant coach that could have potentially cost the Bearcats the opportunity to score 8 points - it was actually Coach Kinnie himself. Sheeeesh!! : 11/9/2009
Denison has no class!! From Jr. High up, "Nobody" in Denison ever FAILS and are always eligible to play!! Players who leave Sherman due to grades, legal matters or were kicked out by Drew Young are welcomed with open arms in Denison. Some very good players have left Sherman over the years and ended up playing there. IT's AMAZING HUH? By The Way........it was actually Kinne who walked in front of the referee during a play and caused the sideline infraction, which gave Denison the first down leading to a touchdown. Take that away and the fumble at the end....it's a tie or at least a 1 point ball game.

I would like to go to Denison one time and have their players (multiple personal fouls) and fans (mocking Sherman fans as they left) show a little class in victory. Probably asking too much.

Not So Fast : 11/8/2009
Congratulations to both teams for their seasons. 9-1 and 8-2 are both respectable regardless of the district opponents. Sherman loses this one by 2 scores while fumbling going into the endzone once, which happens, and a huge momentum shift when they score and get a stop to start the third quarter only to have it negated by a sideline infraction, resulting eventually in a DHS touchdown instead of a punt...that mistake, my friends, is inexcusable. To Mr. O'Quinn, not so fast on the Drew Young era. While it did have some low points don't forget about the state semifinals appearance. Not even your former boss could claim that at Sherman. Plus Mr. O'Quinn a win against Newman Smith is to be expected. Beat Carter and then we will talk about breathing some serious life back into a program. Best of luck to both groups in the play-offs. Denison do not overlook an underated Pearce in the first round as SHS found out last season, while Sherman's offense and tradition should be too much for Newman Smith who makes their first play-off appearance in over a quarter of a century.

Jacket penalties : 11/8/2009
After perusing the DMN high school sports page, I was unable to find a team anywhere in the area with the penalty yardage that the YellowJackets got on Friday night; not even close! I am glad that we can still win games, but how much better could we be w/o this problem? That said, I realize some calls were iffy, but not all. This has been a problem all year!! I know that we have a good coaching staff, but I honestly can't understand why they are not more concerned about the penalties and most especially the unsportsmanship calls. Now we have a situation where we are being really scutinized by the refs because our bad rep preceeds us. Somebody had better do something about this before we get into a tight situation and it costs us a game. I would hate to see this talented team of kids have a playoff run cut short because of a few players that can't be controlled by the coaches.

the buzzie body

Absurd : 11/8/2009
Hey Kyle, so you're telling me and the rest of the viewers on here that if Sherman wins one game and bows out in the second round to a Carter or Longview for example that one win makes the program so much stronger? You need to check your ego at the door and take a reality pill. The "ridiculus" Drew Young era has taken the program to the state semifinals, so until Kinne or anyone else for that matter does, then just eat your crow and pull your panties back out of their wad. Wow, a 9-3 record would so trump an 8-3 mark! I would be so happy w/ that if I was a Bearcat! Not! By the way, if they get in the district w/ the Friscos and what not, it's NOT THEIR CHOICE! You can't blame Sherman for playing who the UIL TELLS THEM TO! I guess you're saying Kinne is good if they win this week and he's not if they don't. HA! How bout getting your assistants off the field and not allowing them to cost the kids a chance at potentially pulling within eight points. That might be a good start buddy! Your logic speaks of Einstein!

Mind your Ps and Qs

Jackets : 11/8/2009
Well, we did beat Sherman, but, if the jackets play any of the playoff games like they played sherman, they will be out soon. Denision did not show up for the second half of the game. Its like they just quit playing and let sherman score a couple of TD's. Whats up Jackets? Don't think your going to get very far in the playoffs by playing this way. Play both halfs of the game like your behind by 20 points. Good luck Jackets.

Lookin out...

It doesn't matter who wins the Game It's how you play the Game....but players are going to have to learn to play without fighting or punching, that doesn't make you a better team.

God blessed both teams with a great season this year. I hope the playoffs go well for each team. I hope that the players can play with less foul language and dirty tricks. The other concern is the officals they where the worst I have ever witnessed all we can hope for is a better group for future games

9-4A Playoffs : 11/7/2009
Well, Here we are on top of District 9-4A..Feels Great..Axe Champions of the Decade!! Way to go Jackets...Also, Good luck to the Bearcats, Lions and Frisco Liberty in the playoffs. Now it's all about representing our district in the playoffs. Denison plays a J.J. Pearse that was beaten last night by Sherman's first playoff foe, Neuman Smith 70-56. Sounds like no Defense on either side But, Lots of Offense going on there.. Wow!, How about Mckinney??, They have Highland Park right out the gate. Who Knows the Lions could pull a "major upset". Frisco Liberty faces Rockwall-Heath high School. Anyway it's time to pull for all of our 9-4A teams and Represent!!!..Good Luck to all.

Playoff Win : 11/7/2009
Zero doubt Denison is awesome and a stronger program right now (great example of solid 4A program). The Cats can start to establish something with their 1st playoff win in 6 years on Friday - Kinne can call it a successful year if he is able to get that done and show some improvement from the ridiculous Drew Young era. A loss to Newman Smith on Friday shows no improvement in the win column and provides doubt for the off season. The Cats need to hope for a stronger District @ realignment in February. The current 9-4A slate is absurd outside of Denison with inferior Frisco schools providing easy wins that make you believe are special. Newman Smith will be a challenge after rolling up 70 against JJ Pearce - let's see a win and the improvement expected when Kinne was named HC/AD. Go Cats!!!
