Grayson County students play at Texas State Music Teachers Convention

HOUSTON -- The annual Texas State Music Teachers Convention was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Houston on June 12-14. One of the highlights of the convention is students gathering from all the state of Texas to perform in ensemble programs.

The high school division from the Grayson County Music Teachers Association was represented by Jonathan Shich, Samantha Crocker and Timothy Jenkins. The three students, each on a grand piano, performed "C.S. Theme and Variations." The students had to pass the Texas State Theory Test on their grade level to qualify to audition for a place in the ensemble. The Grayson County students practiced for several months in preparation for the performance.

Piano teachers of these high school students are Donna Batey, Anne McGee and Cathy Sauls.
