Texoma Pro-Life meets on Saturday
Rita Diller from the American Life League will be welcomed when the Texoma Pro-Life Association meets Saturday, Feb. 13. The gathering will be at 10 a.m. at the St. Xavier Center of St. Patrick's Church in Denison.
Diller will be discussing her involvement in the closing of 19 Planned Parenthood facilities in the Diocese of Amarillo. Diller was already a pro-life activist who assisted Body of Christ Rescue in closing two abortion clinics in Corpus Christi when she was enlisted by Bishop John Yanta of the Diocese of Amarillo to help in his efforts to close the Planned Parenthood sites in his diocese. Together, Yanta and Diller began the Respect Life ministries of the Diocese of Amarillo.
After 11 years of work, 17 of the Planned Parenthood facilities were closed. Upon Yanta's retirement in January 2008, Diller continued the efforts to close the remaining two facilities under the direction of Bishop Patrick Zurek. On Dec. 31, 2008, it was announced that the two remaining Planned Parenthood facilities would disaffiliate from Planned Parenthood. Diller is now the national director of STOP Planned Parenthood, a project of the American Life League. The group was founded 25 years ago by Jim Sedlak.
