Blog 'Tween Again
This week, I am between a rock and a hard place ... well, really, I am between a stony disregard for movie reviews and the hard cold fact that I love Julia Roberts.
That is to say that I love her acting. Well, if I knew her, I probably would love her in a best bud or old friend you haven't seen in ages kinda way.
Julia Roberts, if her information on Internet Movie Database is correct, and I are the same age minus a few months. When I was in college, she was making "Pretty Woman," and "Steel Magnolias" and I thought to myself ... she is the actress of my generation.
A couple of decades later, and I still stand by that analysis. Her newest movie, "Duplicity," is wonderful. Having said that, I will add that it might not be everyone's cup of tea. The movie is not linear ... it doesn't flow from the beginning to the end. To say more would give too much away, but it is one of those movies that jumps around before the big reveal at the end.
Either way, Roberts and Clive Owens, who co-stars in the movie, remind one of old time movie stars acting in the kinds of movies Hollywood used to make ... the kind that made you think.
Besides enjoying Julia's movie (I am sure that if we knew each other, she would want me to use her first name) I didn't do a great deal this weekend to blog about. I kept the baby (my niece) and learned, once again, that a 14-month old baby can out run a house full of adults hands down.
We chased her around the house a dozen times before breakfast. That continued until after lunch when I called her mom and told her we were bringing baby home.
Ten minutes after we walked her home, I missed her so much I almost went and got her again.
